One of my favourite bands of the year dropped by Manchester Scene Swipe before their awesome set at the Manchester Deaf Institute last month. An great set that saw the band finish off with an impromptu acoustic set in the middle of the crowd. (Check out this awesome picture courtesy of Joshua Charles, for an idea of it's intimacy). Above you can see them perform a nice rendition of their single "Solid Ground" prior to the gig. In relation to the album the guys said;
“It was great to be able to step outside of our live setting and imagine the songs in a different way...Jason Cupp brought another dimension to the songs that was really exciting to hear. We were able to deconstruct them part by part and then rebuild each verse or chorus with a different sonic idea.....We went into the record with the understanding that the creation of the album would be separate from its existence as a live piece of music, which was really liberating.”
If you haven't picked up the album Perch Patchwork yet I advise you to do so and get this band into your life. A highlight of my 2010 was seeing these guys live and their album has received more than a lot of rotation on my iTunes. Enjoy courtesy of Manchester Scene Swipe via Music For The People.
