Electronic legend Richard D. James, better known by his most famous of aliases Aphex Twin, will get another one of his amazing works reissued by 1972 Records, who reissued his album Selected Ambient Works Volume II on vinyl earlier this year. On September 18th, two of Aphex Twin's best works (also with the creepiest album covers), 1995's ...I Care Because You Do and 1996's Richard D. James Album, will be reissued on vinyl for the first time in over ten years.
According to Exclaim, the Richard D. James Album reissue will only come as a single LP, meaning it most likely won't have the bonus tracks included in the original North American and Australian releases. Although, given the length of ...I Care Because You Do, it will most certainly be a double LP. Now would be a good time to mark September 18th on your calendars.
The Flaming Lips will be re-issuing their Record Store Day release The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends on June 26th via Warner Bros. Records, and this time around the release will differ just a little bit from its RSD counterpart. In the rerelease, the Chris Martin-aided track "I Don't Want You to Die" has been replaced by an unreleased track featuring Aaron Behrens of Ghostland Observatory. The song, titled "Tasered and Maced," sees Behrens unloading a series of stories about cops, tasering and macing, monsters, and kicking his friends in the testicles. Listen to it below (via TheFutureHeart).
Record Store Day 2012 announcements keep coming in, and today LCD Soundsystem has joined in on the fun. The New York outfit's debut single "Losing My Edge" will be reissued on Record Store Day, April 21st, on 12" vinyl, and is now available to preorder via Midheaven Mailorder.
Along with this announcement is yet another clip from LCD Soundsystem's upcoming film SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS, which will be premiered this week at SXSW and officially released later this year. After the jump, you can watch the clip, in which James Murphy discusses how his age played a part in the breakup of the band, via Pitchfork.
