Last week a track appeared on line which was the work of the ultimate remixer of the moment, Jamie xx, who'd re-worked the BBC's Newsnight, and today we have a brand new full length number from the skillfull young hands of Jamie. The track is titled "Beat For" and is what you'd come to expect from the xx man, full of glitchy beats and some nice drops. Throw in some nice samples and drum tracks and you have another club tune that will have people swaying away into the early hours. As mentioned Jamie xx will be playing alongside Skream and Benga among others at an Annie Mac Presents night in London. For more info head on over to Annie's site. Check it out in full below and props to Disco Naïveté.

One third of the indie band The XX and 2011's currently most in-demand remixer Jamie xx takes over this week's 6 Mix on BBC 6 Music. After dropping amazing remixes like Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" and his recent collaboration album with spoken word legend Gil Scott-Heron on We're New Here, Jamie takes over the 6 Mix to play a selection of the music which inspired his productions alongside some of his current favourites and also tells the story of how he came to remix the whole Gil Scott Heron album. Check out the mix below which also features a new tune from Jamie and recent Devlin collaborator Yasmin titled "Touch Me". Peep the track listing after the jump.
After a huge year for the LA Boys, Local Natives toured relentlessly in backing of their beautiful debut album, Gorilla Manor. Last week they dropped by the KCRW Studio for Morning Becomes Eclectic. If you're yet to pick up their debut, it's well woth a listen if not just for the vocal harmonies that gel so well with these guys. It's available now over here.

With all of the Madonna hoo ha at the moment with Lady Gaga supposedly ripping off some of her tracks in latest single, "Born This Way" (I'm not saying she has before the onslaught begins). As well as other noughties stars paying some kind of homage to 70's/80's Madonna era, but today we have Beth Ditto's new video which shows how it should be done if you're gonna pay tribute to Madonna. It's the video for her new track "I Wrote The Book" taken from her four track Simian Mobile Disco produced EP.
We've previously had a sneek peak at a few tracks from the EP but it's not set for release until March 8th. Check out the video at the top featuring Beth walking down a long empty corridor before things liven up in the bedroom when she's joined by dancers and all manner of things. Check it out at the top and watch out for the funky EP's release on March 8th. For a preview of the EP head on over here for a 2 minute tease!
Remember on Saturday when we got the new Kanye Video featuring a hell of a lot of Rihanna, in every sense of the word. It's set to be his third single and if you missed said video, head on over here to let it attack your eyes with it's bright lights and flashing images.
Now over the weekend there was also the NBA All-Star Game which as CoS points out featured a lot of Kanye play inbetween commercials and what not. It came as no surprise as it was previously announced that Ye and RiRi were to perform in the half-time break. When they did actually take to centre court to perform "All Of The Lights" for the world to see it was only the second time Kanye had performed the track live, last time being at his Bowery Ballroom performance.
This could very well be the last time we see Kanye promoting his opus that was his Beautiful Dark Twited Fantasy as all he has line up us a few festival performances in the States. You never know he could be making a trip over see's to some european festivals but with no rumours floating about I'd have to start my own to have any kind of hope to hold onto of seeing Kanye live in 2011.
Check out Kanye and Rihanna's performance up at the top courtesy of Rap Radar.
Check out the new video for Bright Eyes' new single, "Shell Games". We first got a tste of this track back in December in news of their new album The People's Key which came out on Feb the 15th last week. The video was Directed by Nik Fackler, and in it we see Conor Oberst and the band playing "Shell Games" around the bonfire and in a winter cabin. The burning fire and imagery pairs well with the distant fading guitar riffs of the track and makes for a decent watch on a Monday morning.
To pick yoruself up a copy of their brand new album just head on over in this direction and pick yourself up your first but of new music for the week. We also had a preview of a few none album tracks that are available for download over on Saddle Creek, but have a little listen before you buy by heading here. With only 2000 copies being made for vinyl you can now still download the tracks to take with you wherever you go. Anybody designed a portable vinyl player yet? Apple might have missed a portion of the market with that?!
