It couldn't of been easier to get hold of, simply by showing double D some love you'd be sent an email with a zip file containing the mixtape! Today, yet again Darwin delivers a treat to fans and has just posted up a link to this video of him and his band performing their hit single "Bad Day". Performed for Break Thru Radio back in December last year it was recorded at Dubway Studios in New York City. [Watch] Beth Ditto, The Kills, Joey Starr, Karen Elson, Mark Ronson & The Business Intl w/Boy George share a stage for the 2011 Défilé Etam Lingerie Fashion Show
Feast your eyes, literally, on this video from the Le Défilé Etam Lingerie Fashion show 2011. We got wind of it via Mark Ronson who simply tweeted "Myself & @BusinessINTL, the Kills, Joey Starr, @KarenElsonMusic, Beth Ditto, Boy George & Andrew Wyatt share a stage". It features performances from all the artists above so hit play and let the 20 minute video use up some of your lunch break/evening depending on which side of the pond you're on.
There's the entertainment of Alison Mosshart blasting out a classic track, Beth Ditto performing a Gossip song, Mark Ronson playing his hexagonal electric drumkit throughout. Then there's Karen playing her acoustic and Joey Starr rapping his way through a track. Then we have Andrew Wyatt singing finally finished off with a performance from Mark Ronson's Business International along with Boy George. That might seem like a lot to take in, but while that is all happening beautiful models wearing next to nothing are gracing the stage with a never ending stream of flesh. Quite the visual treat for a Wednesday and quite the eargasm for a Humpday too. Check it out and enjoy it in all its glory above. I need to take a break after that, blimey.
Gilles Peterson has gotten to see a few exclusive FlyLo related things in recent months but this little interview takes the buscuit. The Worldwide Awards 2011 were held at Koko in London this week at which Flying Lotus’ third album Cosmogramma was nominated for album of the year. FlyLo took home the award and when backstage Thom Yorke actually took over the interview! Take a look at Thom and Steven along with Gilles at the top via BBC.
FlyLo has made his directorial debut creating a video for the Bilal track "Levels". As you may expect Flying Lotus has created a trippy, colourful journey through a space like utopia featuring floating flowers along with a few twists and turns along the way creating an all round entertaining watch. See the video up at the top via 2 Dope Boyz. Warning: Watch in a sober state of mind unless you want to suddenly be transported into a crazy realm of colours and manipulated reality. Just sayin'.
Dave Grohl takes some time out to show NME around his home-studio which basically compromises of a Garage with his Kids bikes in and a room upstairs filled with analog production gear. As Dave points out mid-way through it kind of turns into an episode of MTV's Cribs a he shows the camera the contents of the fridge and freezer. But hey, it's Dave Grohl, he can show the camera whatever he wants and we'll eat it up. Check it out for yourself up at the top and let the ever growing anticipation for the new, heaviest ever Foo Fighters album continue.
If you've missed the previous two sneak peeks at new Foo's material then fear not as we've got you covered. If you click here you can hear a 10 second snippette of "White Limo" and over here for a longer clip which was previewed on the official Foo Fighters site. Enjoy.
On May the 10th, Manchester Orchestra will release their third official album, Simple Math via Columbia Records and Favorite Gentlemen Recordings. The band were updating fans regularly via there Twitter account along with some drunken rambling it seemed like they were enjoying the whole process. The album will be the follow up to 2009's Mean Everything to Nothing.
According to Paste Simple Math is a concept album focusing on Andy Hull's questions in relation to his marriage, love, sex and his beliefs. Andy said that “This record is two dueling conversations between me and my wife, and me and my God,” Hull says in a statement. “Sometimes even for myself, it’s difficult to decipher which one I’m actually talking to. Everything I’ve written in the past has been about those things. This album is the most realized form of my questioning.". For more info on the band and general updates head on over to the official Favourite Gentlemen website. Sign up to the mailing list and you'll get a nice little treat as courtesy in the form of an Andy Hull track titled "Rotten Black Root". Time to do a little dance due to my excitement at hearing this album!
Towards the end of last year we got our first listen to a brand new Bright Eyes song called "Shell Games" which was warmly received by the blogosphere with open arms. Today via Spinner we have our second sample of their new album which takes the name The Peoples Key with the track "Haile Selassie". You can download it for yourself below. You can also pre-order the album in a range of packages as we mentioned in December. Simply head on over to the Saddle Creek website. As Spinner reports the album will be a win for everyone who thought that Conor may take the bands sound down a route similar to his solo work but they have brought the classic Bright Eyes sound back and the result is supposedly great. Check out the track for yourself in full and grab the download while you're at it.
