[Listen] Skream - "Lights in the Distance" x Magnetic Man Remix

Last week we got the visuals put to one of the stand out Magnetic Man tracks on their debut, "Going Nowhere". If you missed the weird visuals of youths roaming the streets then you can head over here. Yesterday though, this remix from Skream himself made an appearence online, adding another element to the track (more of a personal touch as he obviously had input on the original track being 1/3 of Magman!). Skream slows the track down a little yet the result surprised me, and as with the single, the vocal work of John Legend stands up tall making for an impressive little remix.

As an extra special weekend treat Skream put up a nice 170bpm track to his Soundcloud page. The track seems pretty deep and bassy and as Skream described it yesterday it's a little "soundtracky". Give it a listen to understand what I mean. As well as enjoying his re-working of the Magnetic Man track.

It looks like we'll be seeing a little bit more of Neon Hitch if this track is anything to go by. With it being co-written by Sia and add to that the nice production work of Benny Blanco the result is a dancey, pop track with a beat that sits alongside it just write.

The track will have itself ringing around your head for the remainder of your Saturday so hit play below and enjoy the track courtesy of Arjan Writes. If you missed the track we got to hear her on not too long ago, head on over here to listen to her vox to a backdrop of Deadmau5

[Download] Grimace Federation - The Key Studio Sessions, Jan. 12, 2011

It seems like it was just last month that Philly's Experimental/Psych/Jazz Rock band Grimace Federation released their latest EP On Velvet. Wait a sec. Thats because it was just last month (well techincally it was November, we wrote about it in December). The band recently stopped by XPN for a Key Studio Session, but not to perform tracks off their latest release, but to perform a set consisting of entirely new songs! The band stated that the recordings that make up On Velvet were approaching two years old, and another album’s worth of material was written in the downtime. Awesome. Check out the entire XPN set below.

[Listen] RJD2 - Daytrotter Mix

That is a creepy pic of RJ. Ha. Anyways, the homie RJD2 stopped by the Daytrotter studios last year during Moogfest to not drop a session but a mix. Different. You can check out the stream of the mix below and then head over to Daytrotter to download. For those that aren't too familiar with RJ's recent live show, it's mainly split up into two portions the DJ set and the live band set. This mix is a spot on taste of the DJ portion of the set.

[Listen] Panic! At The Disco - "The Ballad of Mona Lisa"

Looks like Panic's return single caught a case of the drips. Check out the new single by Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith titled “The Ballad Of Mona Lisa” which will appear on P!ATD's forthcoming 3rd LP Vices & Virtues which releases this March. The single is set to release on February 1st and is definitely a take back to Panic!'s older sound.

[Download] Mux Mool - 'Drum EP 2'

SKoA favorite and our buddy Mux Mool has recently released his follow up EP Drum EP 2. You can take a listen to the album below then head over here to grab the download, as well as donate for the album (because donating is cool). And now a few words from Mux to give you a little backstory on the creation of Drum EP 2.

From Mux Mool:

I made the first Drum EP in 2007. At that time I wasn't sure if I was going to continue making beats at all. I had only released one song, and despite how well "Lost and Found" had done, I just wasn't sure if this was the path I was going on. A good friend of mine, Medium Zach from Big Quarters suggested I challenge myself to make one beat every day for a week. I took him up on his challenge and did just that. 7 lo fi hip hop beats.

In 2010 I found myself in a similar funk, only this time I was traveling quite a bit. I decided that I wanted to challenge myself again. This time, I couldn't really do 7 songs in 7 days, and I wanted to improve in quality from the songs on the first Drum EP, but stay true to the nature of beat-making challenges. So, this EP is all songs I made while on a plane.
