Any time I've seen Adele in an interview or on the radio she seems like a genuine, down to earth young girl who generally just enjoys what she does every day. With her new album 21 hitting stores in the UK today take a look at a track by track guide to the album from the lady herself.
You'd of thought after the ridiculously well received My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye would take a breather and enjoy his down time. Obviously we'd see a little of him along with a bit of promo for his joint effort with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne. You'd be wrong however, as last night Kanye went on one of his now infamous twitter raves and let us all know what 2011 had in store. Ye tweeted, "MY NEW ALBUM COMING THIS SUMMER" which is sure to get a few people hot under the collar. He added shortly after that he “just threw some bassoon on this muthafucka.”. This means that West will most likely be making headlines throughout 2011 and the album may see the light of day before December draws to a close.
He also announced that the official video for his star-studded single “All Of The Lights” will see tpremiere some time this week. As well as this he was also announced last week to be headlining a day at Coachella. His Jay-Z collabo is set for release in March so there's definitely no rest for the wicked! More news on the new album as and when we get it.
Last week whispers began to circulate as to a rumour of Arcade Fire coming to the UK and performing their largest headline show in the country yet. It has now been confirmed and following in the footsteps of Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kings of Leon the band are set to play at London's Hyde Park this coming June on Thursday the 30th.
The support acts have also been announced to be Mumford & Sons, Beirut and The Vaccines according to Gigwise.
As we now the band are to perform on the Grammys fairly soon but add to that the excitement of seeing the band on UK television, as they have also been announced to perform on this years Brit awards. Along with them their support act Mumford & Sons will grace the stage.
Arcade Fire's most recent album The Suburbs got the number two spot on our countdown of the best albums of 2010. Another rumour is also circulating as to the likelihood of another LP within the coming months from the band. The rumour started due to this image surfacing online. Let the mayhem ensue.
Tickets will be on sale this Friday from 9am (January 28th) so be sure to grab yourself a ticket for what could be the UK show of 2011. I know I will be!
There was a little bit of fuss back at the start of December when Mister Heavenly made an appearence along with Michael Cera helping out on the bass. It was pretty cool to see. We now have some tracks for you to listen to, more than a shakey Youtube video with the murmers of hipster chat in the back ground. Below you can take a listen to two songs from them. The first of them is titled "Mister Heavenly" and the second takes the name "Pineapple Girl", both of which feature some nice hooks and harmonies. Check 'em out below.
Their Sub Pop debut is set for release in Spring so keep an eye out for that.
Last week we got the visuals put to one of the stand out Magnetic Man tracks on their debut, "Going Nowhere". If you missed the weird visuals of youths roaming the streets then you can head over here. Yesterday though, this remix from Skream himself made an appearence online, adding another element to the track (more of a personal touch as he obviously had input on the original track being 1/3 of Magman!). Skream slows the track down a little yet the result surprised me, and as with the single, the vocal work of John Legend stands up tall making for an impressive little remix.
As an extra special weekend treat Skream put up a nice 170bpm track to his Soundcloud page. The track seems pretty deep and bassy and as Skream described it yesterday it's a little "soundtracky". Give it a listen to understand what I mean. As well as enjoying his re-working of the Magnetic Man track.
It looks like we'll be seeing a little bit more of Neon Hitch if this track is anything to go by. With it being co-written by Sia and add to that the nice production work of Benny Blanco the result is a dancey, pop track with a beat that sits alongside it just write.
The track will have itself ringing around your head for the remainder of your Saturday so hit play below and enjoy the track courtesy of Arjan Writes. If you missed the track we got to hear her on not too long ago, head on over here to listen to her vox to a backdrop of Deadmau5.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more from Neon Hitch in the very near future.
It seems like it was just last month that Philly's Experimental/Psych/Jazz Rock band Grimace Federation released their latest EP On Velvet. Wait a sec. Thats because it was just last month (well techincally it was November, we wrote about it in December). The band recently stopped by XPN for a Key Studio Session, but not to perform tracks off their latest release, but to perform a set consisting of entirely new songs! The band stated that the recordings that make up On Velvet were approaching two years old, and another album’s worth of material was written in the downtime. Awesome. Check out the entire XPN set below.
