[Listen] R.E.M. - "Does Your Mother Know?" (ABBA Cover)

Just when you thought you'd heard the last of R.E.M., and I don't mean that in a bad way, I mean it in a "WOO look what we got" kind of way! A new track appears online dating back to 1984 when I was, well, unborn for another 5 years! The recording is of Stipe and co covering ABBA's 1979 hit "Does Your Mother Know?". Did any of ABBA's tracks not become a hit?! Spin the R.E.M. cover below and the ABBA version is also there for comparisons sake.

[Listen] R.E.M.'s Final Christmas Gift To Fans, Two Live Recordings from 2008

Way back in 1988 R.E.M. started rewarding members of their fan-club with a special holiday release. This may have been a Christmas song, a live recording or a completely new track. The now defunct band have offered up fans one final gift from the bottom of their hearts. Late last week the band sent out some recordings from their final ever performances as a little gift. The good folk at Slicing Up Eyeballs have been kind enough to upload the aforementioned streams. First up is a recording from a London show in August, 2008 of "Perfect Circle". Secondly you can enjoy "Life and How To Live It" which was actually the penultimate song at R.E.M.’s final ever concert, ever. That show was way back in '08. Time flies huh? Anyway, happy Holidays from R.E.M.

[Watch] Michael Stipe Visits Jimmy Fallon

Now that R.E.M. have officially called it a day there's not a lot you can do in terms of playing late night slots performing tracks from Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage (1982-2011). However, last night Michael Stipe visited Jimmy Fallon to sit down for a chat about the band and it's history. After that he stuck around to play a game of Password with J-Fal. Martin Short and the living felt legends that are Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. How can you resist hitting play on the videos? Up top is the interview and after the jump comes the Muppets infused fun. Thanks to The Audio Perv for the video love.
