[Watch] Metric - "Youth Without Youth" (Official Video)

Metric's fifth studio album Synthetica dropped today, and to celebrate the band has given fans a brand new video to go along with the release. The video for the album's lead single, "Youth Without Youth," is described by director Justin Broadbent as one that "blends the old with the new through imagery of themes present throughout Synthetica while simultaneously and subtly referencing moments throughout Metric’s career." Watch it above.

[Listen] Metric - 'Synthetica' (Full Album Stream)

After three years, Synthetica, the long awaited fifth studio album from Metric, is nearing its June 12th release date, and now you can stream the album in full a week before it is set to hit stores. The band's own Jimmy Shaw produced the 11-track album at Grant Studios in Toronto and Electric Lady Studios in New York. Give it a listen below.

Synthetica is out on June 12th via Metric's own Metric Music International imprint.

A brand new track from Metric has hit the web and it's set to feature on their fifth album, Synthetica. Although the album isn't set to drop until the 12th of June they've offered up this cut titled "Youth Without Youth" to whet the appetites of fans. Check out the track below and as well as that, the band have included a commentary of the track too. That's a new one, but see what they have to say about it in the player below.

[News] Metric Announces New LP 'Synthetica'

On June 12th, Canadian indie rockers Metric will return with their fifth studio album Synthetica, which will be released through the band's new label Metric Music International as well as through Mom + Pop Records. Work on the album began immediately following the band's final show in support of Fantasies, where the band returned to Giant Studios in Toronto. From there, the band concluded work on the album at New York's famed Electric Lady Studios, where production and mixing were helmed by the band's own Jimmy Shaw and John O'Mahoney, respectively.

Shaw describes the process as "he culmination of everything we've done. We've always had a sound in our heads that we hoped to realize. We finally heard it coming back out of the speakers this time." Emily Haines, the band's lead singer, went further to discuss the title of the album, where "Synthetica" serves as the name of a skin-job akin to Blade Runner's replicants: "If you imagine a nightmarishly fake version of me as a pop star, that's her. And this record was about me saying, I'm going to give more to the music than ever, but there's no way I'm going to turn into someone like that."

While the announcement came with no audio preview of the upcoming studio effort, expect more from the band in the coming months.

[Watch] Metric - "Gold Guns Girls" Live on Kimmel

Last night, Metric paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, performing their hit song "Gold Guns Girls." The song is featured on their fourth studio album Fantasies, which was released in April of last year. Let's hope that the Ontario, Canada-based group decides to hit the studio again soon, although who can complain about an awesome live performance here and there? Enjoy the video (thanks to Consequence of Sound).
