[News] Queens of the Stone Age detail new album: '…Like Clockwork'

Unless you spent your weekend under a rock, you'll of seen the internet blow up when our friends over at Antiquiet broke the news of the new Queens of the Stone Age album along with some tantilising snippets of some tracks. The album is titled …Like Clockwork is due out in June via the band’s new label, Matador Records. exciting.

Regarding the release, the ginger giant known as Josh Homme has said it's an "audio documentary of a manic year." I for one cannot wait to hear some full tracks. On the release we can expect guest spots from Dave Grohl on skins, Alex Turner, Trent Reznor, Sir elton John, Joey Castillo, Nick Oliveri, Mark Lanegan, Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, Jon Theodore and James Lavelle of UNKLE.

The album itself was produced by the big man Homme and recorded at Pink Duck Studios. So, get excited. I know I've had a perma-boner since Friday due to the excitement. I should probably go and see a doctor about it.

[Listen] Mondo Generator - "The Last Train" Feat. Josh Homme x John Garcia

I must say that I did not see this coming following the whole Kyuss Lives! debacle but hey, we're definitely not going to complain. Our buddies over at Antiquiet point towards a new track from Nick Oliveri's band Mondo Generator and it features not only Kyuss singer John Garcia but Josh Homme too. I know, how awesome is that! AQ also point to an interview with Let There Be Talk on The Laugh Factory in which Nick talks about how him and Josh have smoothed everything over now.

The track features on Mondo's new album Hell Comes To Your Heart which is out now.

[News] Josh Homme Turns Down Nick Oliveri's Offer To Reunite QOTSA

According to an interview with Nick Oliveri has shed light on the rumours that were sparked last year when this picture appeared of Josh and Nick hanging out in LA. Rumours were flying around like wildfire that Nick would possibly return to Queens Of The Stone Age and his role as their bass player. They were quickly shot down though and in the interview Nick says he and Josh are now on good terms and that as far as he knows Josh is "proud of the Kyuss thing as far as [he knows]" which is good to know.

In relation to Nick ever rejoining QOTSA Nick apparently asked Josh at the Benefit Show for Brian O'Connor last year saying he "saw them play [the] benefit for Brian in L.A., from the Eagles. I was down there and I mentioned to them, "Why don't I come up and do 'Millionaire' or something, and sing it and not play bass?" He was like, "Nah, I don't think that's a good idea yet." It's kind of in his court for stuff like that. I don't think he wants to give anybody the wrong idea. I don't necessarily know if that would happen. And he's got a good band - he's taking the band in the direction he wants it to go. Hey, it's all good". So Josh doesn't want to give the Nick lovers false hope that Nick would ever return in the future or maybe just not right at this very moment.

The pair seem to be on good terms now as Nick and Mondo Generator recorded their latest record in his studios and Nick closes the interview by speaking of the chemistry him and Josh used to have, "I know my songs that I write are definitely better with his [Josh's] hand on them, and his parts put into them, and his production on them, too. But you know, I don't know if he necessarily feels that way about my input on his! [Laughs] He's taken the band in a direction he wants it to go, and that's cool. I kind of feel that Queens is a totally different band now than what it was." And I think that's a fair point Queens has had a lot of guys come in and play on records and live, and right now the band Josh has by his side is a solid one, if their performance at SXSW last week was anything to go by fans will have a tight performance to enjoy when the band tour their self titled in the coming months. But more on that later. For now, let's put to rest the idea that Nick will be playing with Queens Of The Stone Age again any time soon.

[Sunday Pickup] Queens of The Stone Age - "Songs For The Deaf" (Instrumentals)

Man, I haven't done one of these in a while. For those new to the site, this is the Sunday Pickup. The pickup is mainly a download of the rarest things we run across on the internet from some of our favorite bands. And this week you are in for a treat, we got an instrumental version from one of my favorite records of all time! I ran across this beautiful jewel this morning while looking for multitracks for a special project i'm working on. But anyways, here it is in all its glory, the instrumental version of Queen of The Stone Age's hit album Songs For The Deaf (that is for you.) ORDER UP!

Note: Unfortunately, Track 1: You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire, is a bit messed up and glitches at the beginning but the rest of the album is well intact.

[Rumor Mill] Nick Oliveri To Return To Queens Of The Stone Age?

At a recent Them Crooked Vultures show, QOTSA's Josh Homme dedicated the song "New Fang" to former bassist Nick Oliveri and "new beginnings", fueling speculation that Oliveri will return to the band for the upcoming summer tour. As awesome as this news sounds, no official word has been announced about the return, just yet. But if the recent picture (above) says anything, this is good news for QOTSA fans everywhere. Now if Homme can bring back Desert Sessions all in the world would be perfect. Shouts to Shey's Place for the heads up!
