On the heels of his Corazón EP dropping today, Vancouver born turned recent Los Angeles resident Pat Lok has preemptively shared a cut from the EP, “Fearless” featuring Essex soul singer Luke Burr. The song is a lovely little motivational moment both for us and Pat himself. “In my weaker moments, I often compare my life path to the friends and family I left behind in Canada, and wonder if I'm doing the right thing,” Pat shares speaking on the track, “so this is sort of me in the mirror saying get off your butt. It can be difficult for others to believe in you if you don't believe in yourself first and I hope this might reach anyone else out there who needs to hear it.”

Twitter fam so wise with the heartfelt advice! We loveee!

Go have a listen to the rest of Corazón, dude has delivered a deluge of bops yet again. Bravo, homey!

[SONG OF THE DAY] Pat Lok - "Don't Think (feat. Tom Aspaul)"

It would appear that Vancouver vibe maker Pat Lok is going through our mutual Twitter follows for all his current collaborations. After working with the dude Dances on “From The Back”, Pat has now teamed up with my roommate in a parallel universe, Tom Aspaul, for his latest track, “Don’t Think”.

Drawing inspiration from legendary diva Janet Jackson, Lok explained how her music was a source of inspiration for both him and Tom, “As a big Janet Jackson fan growing up (she's actually on the shirt I'm wearing right now) I loved how she walked the line between really dancey songs and more groovy numbers. I met Tom Aspaul in London who was also a fan and we ended up writing this little number inspired by the queen.”

I’m happy to report that Pat has taken time off from his grueling international tour schedule and is currently in the studio working on a new EP to bless us with this spring. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

[SONG OF THE DAY] Pat Lok x Party Pupils - "From The Back (feat. Dances With White Girls)"

Actually don’t stress, as always I gotchu fam.

We got a Twitter fam party up in today y’all! Vancouver’s finest, Pat Lok, has teamed up with LA future-funk duo Party Pupils for the soon-to-be floor filler, “From The Back” featuring the vocal stylings of one of my favorite all-time follows, Dances With White Girls. Seriously, no one rants like Dances.

I’m not exaggerating about it being a Twitter party, btw. That’s actually how Pat and Party Pupils first linked up. As Pat shared, “I had been following PP on Twitter and saw they were talking about an A-Ha remix, so I reached out and sent them some piano ideas for it and that was how we connected. A few months ago we finally met backstage at Electric Forest in Michigan where were both performing and hit it off.” After playing out the demos from a session in LA they did together to audiences in the US and Asia, they collectively decided to enlist Dances to finish off the track with his vocals as “the cherry on top” to the song.

I love when Twitter can be the result of wonderful things like this instead of serving as a place where white supremacists roam free. It’s stories like this that keep me from taking a cheese grater to my hashtag tattoo tbh.

Anyway off you go! Dance the night away!

Oh! And if you happen to be hashtag blessed enough to be in San Diego, Los Angeles, or Brooklyn in the coming weeks you can catch both Pat and Party Pupils live (and livetweet the entire experience if your heart so desires)!

[SONG OF THE DAY] Pat Lok - "Know Me (feat. Kate Stewart)"

We’re just a mere hours away from the weekend and it’s time to D-A-N-C-E, y’all!

You know how I love throwing a vibe on my way out the door on Friday and who better to put you in the mood to get your groove on than Vancouver’s very own Pat Lok. Over the past few months Lok has been dropping sporadic singles (and their accompanying remixes) such as “Might Be On Fire” and “WYG (4 ME)”. On Wednesday he unveiled his latest track, “Know Me”, which features vocal stylings from songstress Kate Stewart.

If you’re just tuning in to the musical stylings of Pat Lok, please live your best life and spend the rest of the weekend dancing to his debut album Hold On Let Go.

Happy weekend!
