During their current trip to Australia, The Shins stopped by the Triple J studio to perform for their covers program called Like A Version, where bands perform one of their own songs along with a cover of their choice. The cover they chose to perform was The Magnetic Fields' "Andrew In Drag", one of the highlights from their latest LP Love at the Bottom of the Sea, which dropped earlier this year via Merge/Domino. Check out their performance above (via Fake Walls).
In The Magnetic Fields' new James Spinney-directed video for "Quick!" we are told the story of Ada (Elizabeth Webster), a trash can dweller and distant cousin of Oscar the Grouch. The video follows Ada's quest for love, and is wholly awkward but cute and endearing at the same time. Check it out above.
The Magnetic Fields' tenth studio album Love at the Bottom of the Sea is out now via Merge Records.
The Magnetic Fields are back, with their tenth studio album Love at the Bottom of the Sea set for release in March. After a trilogy of synthesizer free albums, i, Distortion, and Realism, the band is bringing back their signature sound of blending acoustic guitar and synthesizer sounds, all the while keeping every song on the album under three minutes long. Below, you can listen to one of the tracks from the upcoming album, titled "Andrew In Drag."
Love at the Bottom of the Sea is out on March 6th via Merge Records.
