Thurston Moore returned to the television screens of homes across the US last night when he stepped onto the stage in the David Letterman studio. He was there to perform his track "Benediction" off of his solo LP, Demolished Thoughts. A soft and gentle performance from the Sonic Youth man that you can now enjoy it at the top courtesy of The Audio Perv if you missed it last night, or if you just want to enjoy the magic again.
Last night viewers of Jimmy Fallon and his late night TV slot got a treat. Not only did Thurston Moore appear on the show to put in a performance of "Circulation" for the audience and viewers at home, but an online exclusive video of "Blood Never Lies" also appeared via NBC. Check out "Circulation" at the top with "the web exclusive of "Blood Never Lies" after the jump.
On a side note, Bob Mould sat in with The Roots for what was a truly great musical moment. Check that out after the jump too. It seems all the ate night shows are on form at the moment. Let's hope it continues.
Bob Mould with the Roots:
Check out Thurston Moore laying down some acoustic performances from his new album Demolished Thoughts. The tracks were recorded as part of La Blogotheque's Take Away Show's, which may ring a bell if you're a regular reader as we've seen some great ones in the past. A personal favourite was Local Natives walking the streets of Paris.
This session was a little different though as the film crew went to the Sonic Youth man's New York apartment to record him performing three tracks titled, "Blood Never Lies", "Benediction" and "Circulation". The latter is performed in Thurston's kitchen and can be seen after the jump whereas the prior is recorded on a window sil looking out onto the streets below. An entertaining watch indeed.
After hearing the first two releases Sonic Youth's own Thurston Moore’s upcoming fourth solo album, Demolished Thoughts from "Benediction" and "Circulation," the day has finally come to get your first full listen of the new album in its entirety before its release next Tuesday. Moore's friend, Record Club collaborator and SKoA favorite Beck Hansen handled the production on Moore's newest opus which reminds us alot of Beck's moody, acoustic classic Sea Change. Give your ears something to enjoy this afternoon after the jump.
Take a listen to another track off Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore's upcoming Beck produced solo album Demolished Thoughts. The new track "Circulation" was made available via Thurston's Facebook page and you can listen to it in full below. And make sure, if you haven't, already check out the first track "Benediction" here. Demolished Thoughts comes out May 24 via Matador Records.
From Thurston Moore’s upcoming album once titled Benediction but now known as Demolished Thoughts, we have the track "Benediction" from the Beck-produced 4th solo album which drops on May 24th. As an avid listener of Sea Change (if you couldn't tell from my Twitter avatar), it's almost impossible not to tell that the creator of that album had his hands all over this one.
Very much looking forward to spending time with this record once it's out, even if it will probably mellow me out more that I'd like.
Here's a new one from Beck and his current Record Club roster. 2 more songs left.
Here's another one by Beck's current Record Club roster (Thurston Moore, Tortoise) performing Yanni's "One Man's Dream".
