[Listen] Feist - "How Come You Never Go There" (Beck Remix)

Last month we got to enjoy the fantastic remix of Feist's Metals featuring single, "How Come You Never Go There" from Clock Opera. That was great. Today though, an old master returns to the internet to offer up a remix of that very same track. The man I'm talking about is the uber talented Beck, who last worked with Feist back in '09 when he was doing his Record Club. Beck has brought the funk to the track so I'll stop moving my fingers around the keyboard and let the remix do the talking. Enjoy it below via Pitchfork.

[Listen] Beck - "Paradisco" (Live Recording From 3/26/2009)

Remember yesterday when we hooked you up with a listen of that new Charlotte Gainsbourg song "Paradisco" that Beck wrote and produced for her upcoming album Stage Whisper? Well turns out that a few years back our friend with two turntables and a microphone actually tried the song out for himself at a show in Tokyo back on March 26, 2009 at Zepp Tokyo. While I'm a little biased as a Beck fanatic, I think I might like Gainsbourg's sexed up version of the song better. Of course now that I've listened to both a few times I can't help but hear twinges of "Cellphones Dead" + Modern Guilt in this newer version. It could just be me, though.

[Listen] Charlotte Gainsbourg & Beck - "Paradisco"

The ever-premiering Pitchfork has a new taste of the upcoming Charlotte Gainsbourg double-LP release Stage Whisper which is out on December 13th (December 5th in France) courtesy of Because Music / Elektra. This new track, "Paradisco" is one of many collaborations that Gainsbourg did with Beck for the album, who wrote and produced the song. The track also features drum programming from Cole M.G.N. of The Samps/former Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitti fame.

I am thoroughly enjoying hearing this slightly ramped up yet more alluring side of Gainsbourg. It's definitely a great step forward after Terrible Angels which dropped back in October.

You can also check out more tracks from Stage Whisper over on Air France's Facebook page.

[Listen] Beck - "Stormbringer" (John Martyn cover)

My heart is swelling as I write this. YOU GUYS, THERE IS A NEW BECK SONG IN THE WILD!

FakeBeck, the man who outstalks Beck better than I wish I could, has managed to dig up this John Martyn cover that he did of "Stormbringer" that's really been transformed in a way that only Beck could do to make it his own. It's very reminiscent of "Ramona" with a twinge of Sea Change mixed in. Fader previously reported that a tribute album for John Martyn (who passed away in 2009) was in the works and will be coming out on August 16th. and this track is the first on the album! Other artists that will be on the tribute album include: Snow Patrol, Robert Smith, Beth Orton, The Swell Season, Devendra Banhart, and many more.

Needless to say, my eyes are watery, my heart is happy and you will be soon as well.

Have a listen to "Stormbringer" below and feel free to gush away with me in the comments!

[Listen] Beck and Seu Jorge "Tropicália (Mario C 2011 Remix)"

Just in time for summer, a celebration of the 1960's genre Tropicalia in the form of a compliation that helps battle in the fight against AIDS, courtesy of the non-profit organization Red Hot. The compliation, Red Hot + Rio 2 features tropicalia treats from the likes of Brazil's legendary musicians paired with indie artists known internationally, including: John Legend, Os Mutantes, Devendra Banhart, Caetano Veloso, Dirty Projectors, Seu Jorge, Beck, Bebel Gilberto, José Gonzalez, Beirut, Tom Zé, Of Montreal, Marisa Monte Gogol Bordello, DJ Dolores, Aloe Blacc, Angelique Kidjo, Rita Lee, Madlib, Money Mark, Céu, Apollo Nove, Mayra Andrade, Trio Mocotó, Tha Boogie, Alice Smith, Carlinhos Brown, Los Van Van, Brazilian Girls, Marcos Valle, St. Vincent, Neon Indian, Forró In The Dark, Mia Doi Todd, Javelin, and many more.

Yes, in addition to the ten thousand other things Beck is up to, the love of my musical life is also trying to help raise money for a non-profit who is dedicated to fight AIDS through pop culture. I guess all is forgiven.... this time.

Below is a rework of his 1998 classic, appropriately titled "Tropicalia" from Mutations, complete with verses sung by Brazillian songwriter/musician and actor Seu Jorge with a little added production here and there by Brazillian producer Mario C.

You can check out a full tracklisting of the two-disc compliation here.

[Download] Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks – "Senator" (Prod. By Beck)

Oh how appropriate that this song should surface after the new scandal from a New York state Senator has surfaced recently!

Former Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus has been in the studio with the musical love of my life, Beck for a little over two years working on the upcoming album from Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks, titled Mirror Traffic, which is due out on August 23rd, courtesy of Matador (22 in UK via Domino).

We all know what the Senator wants, but Malkmus and the gang have made it blatantly clear for those who are oblivious.
