[News] Beck To Release Third Man Records Single

On May 28th Beck will make his debut on Third Man Records by releasing a one-off 7" single, "I Just Started Hating Some People Today" with "Blue Randy" as the b-side. The single will be available on day of release via Third Man Records website, iTunes and the TMR store in Nasvhille. There will be NO pre-orders for this single, so guess who will be stalking the TMR website like a crazy person? Yes, me. Until the 28th rolls around you can head over to the TMR site and hear clips of the two songs.

The tracks were recorded in 2011 while Beck was in Nashville working on new material for his long awaited next album. The songs spontaneously came together at the Third Man studio on Beck's final day in Nashville.

There will be an extremely limited run of 100 Tri Color 7-inches (which were inspired by the title of b-side "Blue Randy) will be available beginning 10am on Saturday June 2nd at Randy's Records. An even scarcer scattering of 50 Tri Colors will be randomly inserted in mail orders for the single placed with Third Man.

[Listen] Beck - "Looking For A Sign"

What have we had from Beck in recent years? A great soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, contribution to the Twilight movies, production credits on the likes of Stephen Malkmus, Thurston Moore, Charlotte Gainsbourg too. Well today we can add another new track to that list although it comes via another movie release. The all new track is titled "Looking for a Sign" and appears in the film Jeff Who Lives at Home. Out buddies over at 107.7 The End have a stream of the track up for your listening pleasure. The acoustic guitar work is lovely and it's always great to have some new Beck, just ask Kibbe! So why not add some new music to your life this humpday and head over to iTunes to grab the track.

With him doing all these tracks and summer slots at festivals could more new Beck material be on the cards this year? Time will tell.

[Listen] Feist - "How Come You Never Go There" (Beck Remix)

Last month we got to enjoy the fantastic remix of Feist's Metals featuring single, "How Come You Never Go There" from Clock Opera. That was great. Today though, an old master returns to the internet to offer up a remix of that very same track. The man I'm talking about is the uber talented Beck, who last worked with Feist back in '09 when he was doing his Record Club. Beck has brought the funk to the track so I'll stop moving my fingers around the keyboard and let the remix do the talking. Enjoy it below via Pitchfork.

[Listen] Beck - "Paradisco" (Live Recording From 3/26/2009)

Remember yesterday when we hooked you up with a listen of that new Charlotte Gainsbourg song "Paradisco" that Beck wrote and produced for her upcoming album Stage Whisper? Well turns out that a few years back our friend with two turntables and a microphone actually tried the song out for himself at a show in Tokyo back on March 26, 2009 at Zepp Tokyo. While I'm a little biased as a Beck fanatic, I think I might like Gainsbourg's sexed up version of the song better. Of course now that I've listened to both a few times I can't help but hear twinges of "Cellphones Dead" + Modern Guilt in this newer version. It could just be me, though.

Stage Whisper is out December 13th (December 5th in France).

Special thanks to the Beck superfans that out fangirl me every day over on Whiskeyclone.

[Listen] Charlotte Gainsbourg & Beck - "Paradisco"

The ever-premiering Pitchfork has a new taste of the upcoming Charlotte Gainsbourg double-LP release Stage Whisper which is out on December 13th (December 5th in France) courtesy of Because Music / Elektra. This new track, "Paradisco" is one of many collaborations that Gainsbourg did with Beck for the album, who wrote and produced the song. The track also features drum programming from Cole M.G.N. of The Samps/former Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitti fame.

I am thoroughly enjoying hearing this slightly ramped up yet more alluring side of Gainsbourg. It's definitely a great step forward after Terrible Angels which dropped back in October.

You can also check out more tracks from Stage Whisper over on Air France's Facebook page.
