[Listen] Broken Bells - "Windows"

A little while ago, NPR debuted the new Broken Bells song "Windows". According to NPR, the songs were recorded while James Mercer and Danger Mouse were recording Broken Bells but these four songs just didn't feel like the other songs that made the album. They sure weren't kidding about that! "Windows" is still pretty chill a la Broken Bells but has a rugged feel to it.

Check it out for yourselves!

So? What do we think?

[Download] Cee-Lo "The Ol' Sauseej (Broken Bells "The Ghost Inside" Parody)"

Oh Cee-Lo, I'm so glad that you have an odd sense of humor and that you are so tight with Danger Mouse, because it makes this parody of "The Ghost Inside" that much more amusing. Cee-Lo's version, "The Ol' Sauseej" is about, well, sausages. It starts of sounding like he's hungry and then you get the feeling that maybe talking about food made him a bit horny, as sausage takes on a different meaning in the second half of the song. Either way, we had a good laugh at it. If you like what you hear below you can download it over here

Dangerous Thoughts (Black Thought x Danger Mouse) Still In The Works x The Money Making Jam Boys On The Way

Looks like Rome and the new U2 album might not be the only Danger Mouse projects we get this year. The Legendary Roots Crew frontman, Black Thought announced various projects hes been working on in a video last year with Strictly Fitted. One was the release of The Roots latest LP How I Got Over, the next was making music with his side crew Money Making Jam Boys (who consist of Black Thought, Dice Raw, Truck North, P.O.R.N. and STS) and lastly was the Dangerous Thoughts collaboration with Danger Mouse.

So far we've seen the release for How I Got Over and on February 3rd, clothing brand 10.Deep will be releasing the Money Making Jam Boys mixtape,  The Prestige: Jam Boy Magic. So hopefully that means a release for Dangerous Thoughts can't be too far away, but then again The Roots' MC announced this collaboration several years ago stating it would release likely around the same time as DangerDOOM's The Mouse and the Mask. But hey, 2 out of 3 so far is a good indication of things to come. Check out the first taste (courtesy of Hypetrak) of the Money Making Jam Boys mixtape, The Prestige: Jam Boy Magic with the track "Day Job" produced by Khari Ferrari. The mixtape will be available for download at 10Deep.com/MMJBMIXTAPE at 12pm on February 3rd.

[SKOA Presents] The 25 Best Albums of 2010: 10-6

10. Maps & Atlases - Perch Patchwork [Buy CD | Vinyl]

Intricate fretwork paired with Dave Davison’s unique and intriguing voice Maps & Atlases full length debut showed a growth from their previous EP releases. Tracks like “Living Decorations” had you at the first drum beat, and by the second play of the album you’d be singing along to the chorus of ‘Pigeon” and “The Charm”. The opening track on the album starts with a harmony sang by Dave, Shiraz Dada, Chris Hainey and Erin Elders and sets the pace for the album and as the album progresses the lyricism is a wonder to behold and has elements we can all relate to on some level or another. This album manages to put together intricate guitar lines and Daves voice perfectly in a way that will have you constantly dipping your toes back in for another listen. The album ends with the band doing an a capella which fades into nothingness. A beautiful ending to a stunning debut with the last lyrics being “we will take what we can get”, and that boys is two huge thumbs up from me. - Shey
