[Watch] Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - "Mother" (Video)

I love my Mum but Mother's day in the UK has been and gone, so she's had her gift a while ago. I don't understand why the entire world can't just all pick a day and agree to celebrate the awesomeness of everyone's Mum all together, on the same day, you know?! Anyway in the spirit of Mother's day and as part of the Every Mother Counts benefit album, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have released a visual accompaniment for their contribution "Mother". Check it out at the top.

[Listen] Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros - "Mother"

Numerous musicians, including Beck, Coldplay, U2's Bono and The Edge, David Bowie, Lauren Hill, and Eddie Vedder, among others, will appear on an upcoming compilation titled Every Mother Counts. The album will go to benefit the organization Every Mother Counts, an advocacy campaign aimed at mobilizing an increase in education and support for maternal mortality reduction globally. Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros are another one of the bands that contributed to the compilation, and their part is titled "Mother." The song, which premiered on Spinner, came from a poem that Edward Sharpe frontman Alex Ebert wrote about his mother. Stream it below.

Every Mother Counts will be sold exclusively at Starbucks from May 1-29th, and after the jump you can take a look at the tracklist for the compilation.

[Listen] Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros - "Man on Fire"

The lead single from Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros' upcoming sophomore LP Here is titled "Man on Fire," and premiered today on KCRW. Give the radio rip a listen below. As well, the band has announced that they will be releasing a second album by the end of 2012. The band's lead singer Alex Ebert stated that “[i]n the middle of the recording process we realized we were essentially making a double album. Being four years since our last album, the writing explored a wide variety of subject and sound, as it turned out we had a lot to say. Instead of putting it out all at once, we found that two different albums seemed to be forming. Alone these albums are albums. Together these albums express a varying and so relatively living portrait of our lives.”

Here is out on May 29th via Community Music/ Vagrant.
