[Listen] Gold Panda - "Mountain" & "Financial District"

After releasing numerous unofficial tracks and remixes over the past year or so, UK producer and beatmaker Gold Panda is back with a brand new single, the official follow-up to his debut LP Lucky Shiner. The new digital single "Mountain" and its b-side "Financial District" are described by the musician as being "modern hip-hop," going futher to say, “the 808 snares on ‘Mountain’ are a nod to Noah "40" Shebib and some-time Drake collaborators Boi-1da." Give both tracks a listen below (via FactMag). Both songs are now available digitally, with the physical release of the "Mountain" 7" single set for June 11th via Notown/Ghostly.

Similar to the instrumental track "Thailand Chord Droner" he dropped back in February, UK producer Gold Panda has let loose another random instrumental titled "4." Give it a listen below, and here's his explanation of how the track came to be:

a track I made on a korg es-1 in about 10mins and jammed out for my mate called “Infinite Livez” to freestyle on at a last minute gig/dj set thing in Berlin a while back and I hadn’t eaten much and also had to dj and I’m a shit dj but I just played a bunch of records anyway and Inf’ helped me out by freestyling for me. He’s a nice bloke and a great artist. I just made a cup of tea. Maybe I’ll invite him over."

Gold Panda has taken to his Soundcloud page to let loose a brand new track titled "Thailand Chord Droner." Although there was no mention of the significance of the release, the artist threw in the names of different drum machines (“tr606/tr808/mpc2000xl fuk about") to get our thoughts churning or leave us confused. Either way, stream the track below.

[News] Parklife Weekender Manchester Announced. Flaming Lips, Justice, Crystal Castles and Many More Playing

Every year, Platt Fields Park in Manchester is turned into Festival Central with the Parklife Weekender playing host to some of the worlds top musical talent and the initial line-up has just been announced and boy is it going to be a fun weekend! Taking place on the weekend of June 9th-10th, Wayne Coyne will bring The Flaming Lips gang to headline the Festival along with Dizzee Rascal. Other acts announced include Justice, Crystal Castles, Noah and the Whale, TEED, Azealia Banks, The Rapture, Nero, Fake Blood, High Contrast, Gold Panda, Friends, Araabmuzik, Labrinth. [Listen x Download] Gold Panda - "MPB"

Gold Panda returns to our consciousness with a free download in the form of his beat driven track "MPB". The track is being released into the world alongside the announcement of a series of new worldwide shows this autumn. He'll be hitting up numerous summer festivals including Glastonbury this weekend after already appearing at the likes of Primavera, Mutek and Sasquatch this year. [Listen] Lykke Li - "Sadness Is A Blessing" (Gold Panda Remix)

This was a pairing that I never thought of for a remix, but it totally works. Gold Panda managed to take Lykke Li's "Sadness Is A Blessing" and make it all the more beautifully devastating than it already was. It's not as raw as the original, but this take definitely does not leave any of the emotion out from the song.

[Listen] Gold Panda - Marriage EP

The Marriage EP is available digitally today, but if you want an EP that you can cuddle up to at night, then you're just going to have to wait a little bit longer. In support of Record Store Day (which is April 16th, btw) Gold Panda will be releasing a limited edition 12" for the EP, courtesy of Ghostly International.
