[News] Mumford & Sons Announce Sophomore LP Release Date, U.S. Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers

It's been a while since Mumford & Sons released their groundbreaking debut LP Sigh No More (2009 to be exact), and the band has announced that the long awaited sophomore follow-up will be released in September (Note: A September 24th release date was confirmed by Dutch radio station 3FM). The news was announced by the band themselves during a performance at Pinkpop Music Festival in the Netherlands this past weekend, after which they recorded a live session with the previously mentioned 3FM radio station. During the session, the band discussed the forthcoming LP as well as performing a brand new track titled "Where Are You Now." The entire live session is available to watch after the jump.

In more Mumford & Sons related news, the band has announced that they will be conducting a series of mini festivals across the United States prior to the release of their sophomore LP. Titled Gentleman of the Road Stopovers, the mini festivals will take place in four cities, including Portland, ME, Bristol, VA, Dixon, IL, and Monterey, CA, and will see the band headlining with the help of St. Vincent, Gogol Bordello, Dawes, Grouplove, and more. Here is what the band had to say about their plan:

The Gentlemen of the Road Stopover is based loosely upon our favorite festivals like Colorado's Telluride Bluegrass and Scotland's Loopallu Festivals. We want to stop off in towns where bands don't usually tour, and celebrate the local people, food and music.

We're keen to promote the town's local businesses, and we'll be using the local bars and venues for after-show parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular. There will be a host of our friends playing too, and the vibe falls somewhere between 'travelling Victorian circus' and 'Victorian travelling circus'. It should be a whole lot of fun."

Tickets for the Portland, ME, Bristol, VA and Monterey, CA events will go on sale starting this Friday, June 1st, at 10:00am local time, with the Dixon, IL stopover going on sale on June 9th at 10:00am CT. Early-bird tickets for the events will go for $59 and come in limited quantity on a first-come, first-serve basis, with general admission going for $69. For more information on the events head to the official website, and check out the full schedule and lineup for the Gentleman of the Road Stopovers after the jump.

[Watch] Mumford & Sons Debut New Song

Sigh No More may be the name of the fantastic debut album from Mumford & Sons but fans the world over have done plenty of sighing since it's release due to it being their only source of material from the London boys. If you were one of those many fans though, breath a sigh of release because up at the top via Philadelphia's 104.5 FM you can peep the band performing a track titled "Ghosts That We Knew" or just simply "Ghosts". A very happy humpday treat indeed for fans.

[Listen] Mumford & Sons Debut New Song Live, "Home"

Mumford & Sons had an unbelievable 2010 and rose through the live ranks quickly until this year they played an epic set at Glastonbury at which they looked dumfounded at the fact so many people were singing back at them. They earned it though and the folk filled boys debuted a new track in the studio Colorado radio station KBCO as well as on numerous dates on recent tours. Our friends over at TwentyFourBit got hold of a recording of the latter and you can check it out below. It's been fan named "Home" and it'll give you a nice taste of what's to come from LP number two from the London boys. Check it.

[Watch] Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe, Old Crow Medicine Show Cover Woody Guthrie

Mumford & Sons have recently been on tour with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show n what they call the Railroad Revival Tour. According to our friends over at Twenty Four Bit the bands have been rounding up the end of the show (see what I did there, rounded up! ha) with one hell of a good sing along, country style. The bands come together for a rousing rendition of Woody Guthrie’s “This Train Is Bound for Glory”. VH1 managed to film a performance of the sin-song in which the band all take turns on vocals whilst blasting out 7 minutes of good old folk. You can't help but want to get up and jig when watching this. Happy Friday!!

[Coachella 2011] Mumford & Sons Coachella Performance

London boys Mumford & Sons have done good this past year, appealing to the masses with their folk sounds and harmonies. And rightly so, their debut was a great listen from cover to cover and in turn the festival circuit has rewarded them well with multiple slots over the coming months. This weekend they kicked off things with a performance at Coachella. Check it out at the top courtesy of The Audio Perv
