[Watch] The Flaming Lips x New Fumes - "Girl, You’re So Weird" (NSFW Video)

When it comes to The Flaming Lips the first thing I think of is bright colours and acid trips. The second thing is vaginas and nudity. Truth is, I imagine that's the majority of what Wayne Coyne sees on a day to day basis rolling around his head. Today we get a little insight into Wayne's head once more as a NSFW video has appeared for the New Fumes featuring track, "Girl, You're So Weird" which is set to feature on the insane sounding Flaming Lips collaboration release for Record Store Day. See what you make of the flesh filled video after the jump.

Record Store Day is this Saturday. More details over here.

[Listen] The Flaming Lips and Bon Iver - "Ashes in the Air"

On April 21st, The Flaming Lips will be releasing a compilation comprised of an incredible amount collaborations for Record Store Day titled The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, with a reportedly small number of the vinyls being pressed for the release including the blood of several the contributing artists. One of the artists included on the compilation, although we're unsure whether or not his blood has been harvested, is none other than the golden boy of 2011, Jusin Vernon. The collaborative effort between The Flaming Lips and the Bon Iver frontman has made its way online, so give the 6-minute track a listen above (via BeatsPerMinute).

Also included on the collaborative effort will be Neon Indian, Prefuse 73 and Lightning Bolt, Chris Martin of ColdplayEdward Sharpe and The Magnetic ZerosTame Impala, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Yoko Ono,Erykah Badu, New Fumes, Ke$ha and Biz Markie.

[News] The Flaming Lips To Use Blood From Neon Indian, Prefuse 73, Ke$ha, And Others For RSD Release Packaging

As we reported last week, The Flaming Lips are gearing up for some pretty cool releases for this year's Record Store Day. Today we have learned that the ever-eccentric band is going one step further and doing an extremely limited pressing of both head scratching and nausea-inducing proportions. NME is reporting that the band revealed that they will be using the blood of some of the contributors for The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends. Lead singer Wayne Coyne told MTV Hive, "What I'm going to try to do - and I'm collecting stuff for it as we speak - is I'm going to try to make a record that has every person's blood in the record. I don’t have everybody’s blood just yet, but I collected quite a few vials of blood and it’s actually sitting in my refrigerator as we speak..I’m going to try to take that same concept and put little bits of everybody’s blood in the middle of this record. Like a glass specimen thing.” While the band hasn't unveiled all of the contributors that he will be collecting specimen from, as Pitchfork points that Flaming Lips fan site Psych Explorations of the Future Heart are keeping tabs on possible blood donors which include Prefuse 73, Ke$ha, and Neon Indian.

If you're worried about whether or not your copy of The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends will be blood-ridden or not, according to Coyne there will probably only be five or six of the blood records made and will likely be bought by, "interested rich Flaming Lips people" as Coyne put it.

This is not the first time Coyne has used blood in the band's art. Remember the ACL posters he made with his own blood? I've gotta hand it to The Flaming Lips, while this blood vinyl deal grosses me out a bit, I'm not desensitized to the whole thing because they've done plenty of other crazy things before this.

[Watch] The Flaming Lips - "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" Feat. Nels Cline (Beatles Cover)

Yesterday we got to hear one of the collaborations Wayne Coyne and his gang The Flaming Lips had been working on with Bon Iver. Today comes footage of the band performing another cover of The Beatles. Remember the "I Am The Walrus" cover over the holidays where they're all high as kites? This is a little more tame, and by that I mean they're not wrapped in special blankets and rocking back and fourth between licking weird objects. The performance is of the Abbey Road featuring "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and for the track they have some help from the guitar machine that is Nels Cline of Wilco. Seriously, if you're into guitars and pedals this guy is da bomb. Youtube him if not. The rendition of the track is 17 minutes long and it's bloody good!

Speaking of Wilco, did you see their insanely cool new video featuring Popeye yesterday?!
