[News] Mike Skinner To Release Memoirs: 'The End of the Streets'

The SKoA camp were more than a little upset when Mike Skinner announced that The Streets' album Computers and Blues was to be his last. Recently though, Mike has been back up to his old antics on Twitter and talking about all kinds of things. One of those things is his Memoirs which are soon to be released. Skinner's book will be titled The End of the Streets and was written with Ben Thompson, who's worked on autobiographical material with Russell Brand and comedian Vic Reeves in the past. It'll be available to add to your book collection come the 29th of March and comes complete with a tonne of unseen photographs from Mike's past including some old family pics. See above for a picture of Skinner on his first day of school! The pictures were given to him by his Mum and on his site, regarding the above pic, he stated: "my first day at school. and strong emotions for me because my little girl starts nursery this week. circle of life shit. lion king and that."

The 352 page book can be peeped over at Amazon.co.uk so mark your calendar for a day of geeking up on Mr. Mike Skinner.

[News] Mike Skinner AKA The Streets Writes 10 New Songs For 'The Inbetweeners' Movie

With Mike Skinner only having a handful of live dates left before he calls it quits for good, he has laid down 10 brand new tracks for the UK series turned film The Inbetweeners. The tracks are the only new material fans have had since the release of his fifth album Computer And Blues earlier in the year. UK readers may well be aware of the hit series which gained a large following a few years back and it is just 2 weeks until the film is released onto the big screen. If you've never seen it you can take a look at a few bits here, but in the mean time check out the track listing for The Inbetweeners Movie OST after the jump, it also features Miles Kane and The Vines on it. Very interested to get my hands on Mike's new tracks, if we get 'em you guys will be the first to know! Thanks to NME for this little nugget of goodness.

[Watch] The Streets - Live At Glastonbury 2011

I think you could call this Glasto performance from Mike Skinner "The Very Best Of The Streets" and not be too far off in terms of set list, as he seems to have covered all the hits. There are a few personal favorites that aren't included, but even still I'm very satisfied with how good this set is.

[Watch] Mike Skinner aka The Streets Guide To (Crowd) Surfing x Recording Score For Inbetweeners Film

Here we have a few last glimpses of the last round of shows where Mike Skinner was still perfoming under the name The Streets. Still weird to think that the band has come and gone.

For those hoping that Skinner will continue to make music with or without The Streets, you are in luck. Gigwise is reporting that Skinner will be scoring the soundtrack for the Inbetweeners movie, which will be coming out in August of this year.

[Listen & Download] The Streets - "OMG" (The Death of Marat Remix) x "Puzzled By People" (Zoo Kid Remix)

Mike Skinner has decided that every song on Computers and Blues deserves "darker, harder" versions of each track. Staying true to his word about no longer using The Streets name post-album drop, Skinner is doing the remixes under the guise Death of Marat. He's released "OMG" so far and we're liking where he's going with these.

Since we're on the subject of remixes, Zoo Kid has released a dreamy little remix of "Puzzled By People", which you are welcome to grab if you like what you hear.

[Listen] The Streets - XFM Live Session

As we are all aware Mike Skinner is putting a stop to his career in The Streets. That's the bad news. The good news is he has just dropped his new album Computers and Blues which means he's doing the rounds and performing on radio, televsion and even over in the Guardian's offices. So, earlier in the week Mike dropped in to XFM and performed a few tracks from his new release. Below we have the entire session for your listening pleasure.

To pick up Mike's latest studio offering you can head over in this direction. Also as a second bonus why not go check out the Mixtape he dropped just a week before his LP was to drop titled Cyberspace and Reds. Both show Mikes skills and talent as an MC and justify his carreer. Enjoy the XFM Session.

[Watch] The Streets - "Going Through Hell" Live on Chatty Man

As many of you will know, this week is a sad week for fans of Mike Skinner or as he is better know The Streets, as he has announced his latest album Computers and Blues is his last release as a musician. Yesterday we posted what may or may not be his last ever track titled "Close The Book" which was put up on The Guardian as Skinner has taken it over for the week to post up snippets and scraps leftover from his latest studio album. As well as this though Skinner took to the stage on Alan Carr's Chatty Man show here in the UK. Bringing along Robert Harvey of The Music to sing along his parts. Check it out at the top and let's hope Mike gets bored of sitting around drinking Stella and smoking and not venting his thoughts through music and returns to us with his arms wide open. We can hope, can't we?

[Download] The Streets - "Close The Book"

With The Streets' last ever album getting its release today in the UK it marks the end of an era for the once young Mike Skinner. Computers and Blues, was streamed in full last week and now all you have to do is head over here to grab a copy. In turn though this week, Mike Skinner has taken over the Guardian's Blog and all week will be in control of it. Pretty cool huh? Up at the top you can check out a monologue of Mike explaining his plans for the week backed by a beat he made for track “Close the Book”, which was oing to be stuck on the end of Cyberspace and Blues since the first song on the first album he recorded as the Streets was called “Turn the Page.” Taking him and his music career full circle.

He, in the end decided against this saying, “I’m realizing that this would be shit, I decided to bin it.” Instead over on The Streets takeover at The Guardian you can grab all the snippets and scraps from Skinners works that he did indeed deem, as he puts it, "Shit". Keep your eyes peeled over at the Guardian and in the meantime check out what could quite possibly be the last ever recorded track from The Streets, "Close The Book".
