[Listen] The White Stripes - "Signed D.C." x "I've Been Loving You Too Long"

Straight from the Third Man Vault we have two new unreleased songs from the now defunct White Stripes and boy are these some delightful peppermint striped nuggets! Hearing these makes me regret not selling my soul to keep my Platinum Vault subscription in tact when I was low on funds. I would much rather drop the needle on these than stream them.

Have a listen to "Signed D.C." above and "I've Been Loving You Too Long" after the jump!

[News] White Stripes to Release Live Album, DVD & 7” Single

White Stripes are set to release a live album, a DVD and 7” single in the coming months. Does Jack remember they've broken up, finished, done, kaput etc etc? Not that we're complaining, as I'm sure me and White Stripes fans the world over will be happy to open their arms to these tremendous gifts from Third Man Records. To break it down, there will be a live double-LP of the White Stripes’ final ever live performance which for those of you who didn't know was back in 2007 in Mississippi on July 31st.

Then we'll get to listen to two of the band’s earliest ever recordings on 7” vinyl giving us a nice perspective with the DVD of where they begun and where they would end up a decade on.  Finally, a live DVD called Under Moorhead Lights All Fargo Night which gives you a peek at a 2000 concert in Minnesota. To get your hands on all of these precious White Stripes goodies you need to sign up to the Vault, aka Third Man Records' store and membership club. Head on over here to do that, you know you want to, it's Jack White for god's sake!

[News] Third Man Records Reissue White Stripes Singles for RSD

This year we were all hoping for a surprise reunion between Jack White and Meg White aka The White Stripes, maybe a festival slot or two, anything to keep the fire burning. Unfortunately instead of sparks to light the fure we got a bucket of water when Jack and Meg made the announcement that The White Stripes were no more! Jack isn't exactly a man to stop working though and his Third Man Records is keeping him plenty busy as we saw fr ourselves in Austin at his Rolling Record Store. News then came yesterday that they would be reissuing the first singles from The White Stripes for Record Store Day. According to the label’s official site (via CoS), "Let’s Shake Hands" & "Lafayette" the 1998 singles, will be avaiable for die hards to snap up on April 16th. As you can magine they'll be limited and hard as hell to get after RSD! On a side note we mentioned yesterday there'll also be the release from Jack's input on Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi project, Rome. So if you want to grab as much Jack White swag as possible be sure to pick up that too! Get saving.

Whoa, Jack White Got JACKED By The Air Force Reserves

This just in y'all: the people behind the Air Force Reserves Super Bowl commercial last night are shady as heck. Why, do you ask? Apparently they like to steal credible musicians songs without compensating them.

What am I ranting about? Check out the Super Bowl ad for The Air Force Reserves from the game last night via their website.

Does that song sound familiar to you at all?? Here, let me see if I can help you a bit with that:

The White Stripes - "Fell In Love With A Girl"

Um, yeah.... The White Stripes got JACKED.

Third Man Records, Jack White's label, has released a statement on the Third Man Records website regarding the whole incredibly upsetting ordeal:

UPDATE: STATEMENT HAS BEEN UPDATED ON THE THIRD MAN SITE - WE ARE REPLACING THE IMAGE WITH THE PREVIOUS STATEMENT.

And there you have it. I listened to the two back to back several times and you would have to be kidding yourself to not think that's not "Fell In Love With A Girl". That's not a "write around" as they call it in the business where you commission an musician to write and record something that has the "feel" of, say, Coldplay "Viva La Vida" for example. That absolutely sounds like they just re-recorded it.

Pretty messed up, Air Force Reserves. Shady. Shady. Shady.

Jack White Records, Produces Queen Of Rockabilly With Help From The Raconteurs

NME is reporting that Jack White called in his bandmates from The Raconteurs/The Dead Weather to record with The Queen of Rockabilly herself, Wanda Jackson

According to NME, "[White] has produced the double A-side single 'You Know I'm No Good'/'Shakin' All Over' by the 'Queen Of Rockabilly'. The former song is a cover of the Amy Winehouse, while the latter song was originally recorded by Johnny Kidd And The Pirates."

The single will be released on February 8th courtesy of Third Man Records
