[News] The Roots Announce New Album

Despite a consistently busy schedule, hip hop/soul group The Roots have managed to squeeze in the recording time needed for a brand new studio album. Today, the group announced their thirteenth studio album undun, which will be released on December 6th via Def Jam Records.

According to Roots' drummer ?uestlove, the album chronicles the life of a man named Redford Stephens, who died in 1999. He described the album as "band-oriented with an eye on the moody cinematic." He also said that the album is "the story of a kid who becomes criminal, but he wasn't born criminal. He's not the nouveau exotic primitive bug-eyed gunrunner like Tupac's character Bishop in Juice ... he's actually thoughtful and is neither victim nor hero."

The first single, titled "Make My," features Big K.R.I.T. and will be released on iTunes on November 1st. Courtesy of okayplayer, we have a laeked stream of the single, which you can listen to below.
