[News] New Order Reunite Minus Bassist Peter Hook
There's always been a back and forth of what i'd like to call 'banter' between the former New Order bassist, Peter Hook, and the other original members of the Manchester band. Now news has come that the other members of the legendary band will come together for two shows in October minus Hook though. Instead of Peter on bass, the duties are passed on to Tom Chapman of Bad Lieutenant. He will be slappin' the bass in hooks place, or strumming it more likely. The first gig will take place on October 17th at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels the following day (October 18th) will see them travel to France for a show at La Bataclan in Paris. No doubt die-hard fans will make a trip to one of the shows and lucky European New Order fans look like they'll be able to see the band one last time.
The shows are to help benefit film producer Michael Shamberg, who produced a number of the bands early videos.
[News] PJ Harvey Becomes First Person To Win Mercury Prize Twice
Every year The Mercury Prize throws a few curve balls and often ends up in the hands of an artist no-one expected. This year, the odds on favourite PJ Harvey took home the prestigious award for the second time in her career becoming the first person to ever do so! PJ previously won in 2001 for her Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea LP. So, congratulations to PJ Harvey for her great 2011 album Let England Shake. Whilst accepting the award she stated: "This album took me a long time write. It was very important to me, I wanted to make something that was meaningful not just for myself but for other people, hopefully to make something that would last."
I personally think the album will stand up but what do you think? She held off the likes of Adele, James Blake, Metronomy, Katy B and Elbow to take home the award so the judges must of thought it was pretty special. Let us know. To pick up a copy of her album Let England Shake (it's already received a HUGE sales spike since last night), jump on the bandwagon and grab it over here.
[News] Anamanaguchi Announce Fall Tour Dates

8-bit rockers Anamanaguchi will be hitting the road with fellow New Yorkers Starscream starting at the end of the month in Philadelphia, PA at Popped! Music Festival in support of their new 7" My Skateboard Will Go On/Shred The Gnar (Into The Stars), which dropped back on June 21st via Insound.
A few months back the band stopped by Daytrotter for a session. If you missed out on that, catch it over here. They did a fantastic cover of M83's "Don't Save Us From The Flames" so it's definitely worth a listen.
Have a look at the dates after the jump and make sure you catch them if they're playing in your town!

[News] Insane Clown Posse Open Up About Jack White Collaboration
Still kind of scratching my head about this one. Also the fact that Mozart had a song called "Leck Mich am Arsch" has knocked me for six. But hey, Jack White is Jack White for a reason so I'm going to let it slide and the following words may help explain the whole situation a little better. Talking with Billboard, Insane Clown Posse opened up about the unlikely pairing of ICP and JW. "I felt a little stupid talking to him because he was in a hurry...But I told him who I was and he stopped and gave me a warm acknowledgement, and we kind of chatted and then went our ways and that was it." Violent J tells Billboard. Hey, you can't blame him, if I saw Jack White in an airport I'd probably head on over and introduce myself but I have a feeling the warm acknowledgement may not follow. The weird thing is Jack then apparently began to kind of stalk ICP via their website and eventually reach out to them about the collaboration. "The most respected musician in the world and one of the most hated musicians in the world." had come together and it was Jack that initiated it.
It seems like the reason Jack was so intrigued about the ICP is the reaction he was getting from piers when he told them about his plans: nobody got the kind of reaction he got from his friends in the industry when he told them he was going to do a song with us: "He said people were like, 'What? You're kidding me.' That's what got him excited. His exact quote was, 'We could've done a song with Megadeth and it wouldn't be as talked-about as us working with you guys.' That's crazy awesome." So, there we have it, a slight explanation as to how the track below came to be.
On a side note it looks like Insane Clown Posse will play the track live MI Fest in Brooklyn later this month on September the 17th. Just in case you were planning on watching them.

[News] Björk’s 'Biophilia' Pushed Back Two Weeks

Bad news eager Björk fans, CoS reports that her highly anticipated album Biophilia, was set to make her loyal fans very happy later this month but now both labels that were putting out the album; One Little Indian & Nonesuch Records, have come out and said it has indeed been pushed back a few weeks. [News] The Black Keys, The Cool Kids, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y & More Ready Blakroc 2
Late last night as I began to wind down into a slumber Rocko pops up online with a link to a video. That video was the very one you see above showing a host of talent in a studio smoking what seems to be a lot of herbal medicine. In short, The Black Keys are readying Blakroc 2, their collaboration album with a bunch of contributors from all corners of hip-hop. The Cool Kids, Talib Kweli, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, U God, Jay Electronica, OC, Sean Price and Jim Jones are all set to feature on the release. I have a feeling this release is going to be a good one, just an inkling. Dan's guitar tone makes me swoon like a teen girl for Justin Bieber. Seriously check it out in the video and get excited. Although, maybe hold back a little on the excitement for a moment as the video just says "Coming Soon" as oppose to a concrete release date. Whatever, I'm now excited now and a very happy man.
