[News] Sigur Rós Announces New Album Plans

Less than two hours ago, Sigur Rós took part in an AMA on Reddit, answering fans questions and comments. But, the main purpose of the AMA was to discuss their untitled eighth studio LP, which they are referring to as #SR7 (bring on the Twitter hashtags, people!). As well, the band has posted a new song preview on their website, which is apparently "Brennisteinn", a song the band debuted at a show in Iceland last November. The song is much more aggressive then the Sigur Rós sound we've become used to, but that honestly sounds pretty god damn exciting.

On a more sombre note, the band announced that Kjartan Sveinsson, a founding member of the group, has called it quits. The remaining trio of members, Jónsi Birgisson, Goggi Hólm, and Orri Dyrasson, spoke of his departure, saying, "He said he spent half his life in the band and it was time to do something different".

We'll post more on Sigur Rós' new album as the news arrives.

[News] Justin Timberlake Announces March 19th Album Release Date in Lyric Video for "Suit & Tie"

Justin Timberlake takes lyric videos and adds a huge dash of dapper, looking fresh to death in crisp, formal apparel in the lyric video for his new Jay-Z featuring single "Suit & Tie". As JT goes about his business, which for him consists of shopping for fresh tuxedos and smoking cigars, the lyrics appear stylishly throughout the video, giving this black and white affair a tinge of color. Check out the clip below.

More than just showing us all how well-dressed he is, Justin also gave us the (apparent) release date of his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience, his first in six years (pictured above).

[News] Governors Ball 2013 Announces Full Lineup, and It's Awesome

The Governors Ball Music Festival, which takes place every June on Randall's Island in NYC, has announced the lineup for the 2013 festival, and it's absolutely awesome. With headliners like Kanye West and Kings of Leon, the lineup goes from "meh" to "holy crap" very quickly. Continuing the awesomeness are Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Beach House, Grizzly Bear, The xx, Cut Copy, Animal Collective, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Bloc Party, Local Natives, Crystal Castles, Dirty Projectors, Holy Ghost!, Death From Above 1979, Japandroids, and so many more. Of note, there's one name that is blacked out, which we're assuming will serve as a big announcement in the future.

Tickets for the three-day festival go on sale this Friday, January 25th. Below, you can watch the announcement video for the festival.

[News] Kanye West's 'Cruel Winter' is "more of a rumor", Solo Album Likely

Ever since G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Summer was released last summer, there have been rumors of a seasonal pairing to the album titled Cruel Winter. G.O.O.D. Music artists have mentioned it, there were even teases of an accompanying documentary, but it seems all that was for nothing and Kanye West has moved past the idea. When asked by Vulture about the project, Common stated, "I don't think that's happening. It was more of a rumor — cats been creating, but everybody's been doing their solo album. So that's what that is."

Since Common is so sure that Cruel Winter isn't happening, it would make sense that Kanye is working on something else, right? Fake Shore Drive, a rap blog based in Chicago, hints at this, saying, "All I know is that there’s a gaggle of G.O.O.D. people in Paris right now working on something, and that something is likely Kanye’s album." If this is true, we may even see a new Kanye West solo album later this year.

[News] Vampire Weekend Complete LP 3, Set for Release in May

As many bands are doing nowadays, Vampire Weekend has given their website an overhaul, donning it with an image stating that their third album is now complete. The now finished LP will be released on May 6th, as the website shows, through XL Recordings. Frontman Ezra Koenig recently spoke with Q Magazine, saying that the new album "really does feel like the third chapter in a book", that it will be "darker" and more "organic". We've yet to hear any content from the forthcoming album, but here's hoping this darker, more organic direction serves the scholarly New York outfit well.
