[Download] Man Without Country - "Puppets (Citizens! Remix)"
I've been really into the songs that Man Without Country have been gradually sharing with the masses, with "Puppets" being my favorite of theirs by far. As the Cardiff duo readies themselves for their two upcoming shows in London, the band has released a remix of the song by London synth-pop outfit Citizens!. I love how Citizens were able to take an already gorgeous track and make it ultra-dancy.
Man Without Country will be celebrating Record Store Day this Saturday via their limited edition white 7" release of their single "King Complex" which will also feature their remix of M83's "Midnight City" as the b-side.
Make sure you have a look at the dates below.
MAN WITHOUT COUNTRY - UPCOMING LIVE DATES:
18 –LONDON, Ridgely Road Market Bar (Citizens! Single launch)
28 –LONDON, Inc Club, 02 ‘Sundance Festival’
[Listen] Frank Ocean - "Whip Appeal" (SBTRKT Edit)
We like SBTRKT and we like Frank Ocean, so the two coming together into one track can only be a good thing, right? Today, SBTRKT has taken to his Soundcloud once more and offered up a reworking of Frank's recent track "Whip Appeal" that as SBTRKT puts it:
...made this edit to play at my williamsburg gig last week in NY. its nothing crazy. just some beefed up production over an already dope track
See what you make of the mix down below. Personally, I love the combination of SBTRKT's production over a track I've had on repeat as it is.
[Listen] Battles - 'Dross Glop' (Remix Album Stream)
We've had bits from the Dross Glop remix releases from Battles over the last few months but today we can stream the album in its entirety. The mixes are a mixed bag with some being a little stronger but all in all for a remix album it is pretty solid, as was the original album that's lead us here, Gloss Drop. See what you make of all the remixes below via The Fader and look out for it when it drops next week on the 17th of April.
[Listen] Florence & The Machine - "Never Let Me Go" (Clams Casino Remix)
Florence & The Machine will soon be releasing a limited-edition vinyl run of Ceremonials standout "Never Let Me Go," and acting as the b-side is a remix done by up and coming producer Clams Casino. Premiering today on Gorilla vs. Bear, the track is now available to stream below.
The limited-edition vinyl editions of "Never Let Me Go" is set for release on April 9th via The Vinyl Factory.
[Listen] Arcade Fire - "Sprawl II" (Soulwax Remix)
Last night, Zane Lowe debuted a brand new remix of an Arcade Fire track from Soulwax. Now, when you love one band and you like another the results by logic should be mind blowing, right? Casing point give the aforementioned Soulwax remix of Arcade Fire's The Suburbs featuring track, "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)" below. Soulwax have warped the track whilst keeping the already highly lovable track's roots in tact. A wonderful way to spend 6 minutes of your Tuesday morning.
Next month for Record Store Day, Arcade Fire will release some very limited 12" remixes. Good luck getting yours hands on one!
[Listen] The xx - "Shelter" (Beat Culture Remix)
The xx have been quiet as of late but they're busy working in the studio on new material. In the mean time, Beat Culture has offered up a remix of their track "Shelter" which they released last year. The xx are looking likely to return later this year and will also be hitting up Bestival come festival season where I imagine they'll tease fans with some new material. This remix should tide some fans over in the mean time though.
[Listen] Plan B - "ill Manors" (The Prodigy Remix)
We were very pleased to have Plan B make his musical return not too long ago with a great big sounding track called "ill Manors" which is set to appear on the album of the same name accompanying his new film. Last night on Radio One the listeners were treated to an extra special Thursday night treat. A remix from The Prodigy and hot damn does it sound big. I'll shut up now and let you enjoy the remix below via RCRDLBL.
The soundtrack to the film is released on the 26th of March, his forthcoming album ill Manors is out a few months later on the 14th of May.
[SKOA Premiere] The Joy Formidable - "Austere (Alan Wilkis Remix)"
SKOA favorite Alan Wilkis was commissioned to crank out this killer remix for "Austere" by The Joy Formidable alongside the release of EA Sports' new SSX game. Wilkis, who was already a big fan of The Joy Formidable, told us of his approach to the remix: "I really wanted to try to bring the song into electronic territory while hopefully preserving the thrashy-rock-awesomeness of the original version." After having a listen to the track, I think that you'll agree with us that he has done just that.
Fortunately for our pal, the remix got picked up to be in one of the trailers for the game:
Can we get an atta boy for Mr. Alan Wilkis!?!? Good for him!
Our soon-to-be "video game famou"s friend was also kind enough to give us first dibbs on sharing the track with the masses, so have a listen and grab the remix below:
