[Download] Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire – 'The Man in the High Castle' Mixtape

Recently, artists going behind their labels' backs and releasing content anyways has been a popular trend, and it continues as rapper Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire sticks it to Universal by releasing his mixtape The Man in the High Castle without their permission. In a string of tweets, eXquire revealed that his label was delaying the release because they "hate me to rap", but clearly he doesn't care as he states, "they keep taking it down, ima keep putting it up".

Before the man puts his foot down, head here to download the 19-track mixtape.

[Watch] Sigur Rós – "Fjögur píanó" (Official Video)

For the past five months, Sigur Rós' "Valtari Mystery Film Experiment" has been captivating us with intricately beautiful visuals, with twelve directors putting their efforts forth to evoke the emotions and ideas they experienced when listening to Valtari. Now, the competition has come to a close, and directors Anafelle Liu, Dio Lau, and Ken Ngan have been deemed the winners with their take on "Fjögur píanó". Commenting on the video, here is what they had to say:

skinned is a restless self sculpturing of one’s body. it is a glimpse of the corporeal unconscious, forever trapped in lacan’s double sided mirror."

Watch the simplistic yet evocative video above, and head here to watch all twelve contributions to Sigur Rós' competition.

[Watch] The Weeknd - "Wicked Games" (Official Video)

With his long awaited release of Trilogy growing ever closer, The Weeknd drops another black and white video for a track. This time it's for "Wicked Games", following up the video for "Rolling Stone" which we saw at the start of the month, and it's a pretty simple black and white affair. In all honesty I could watch paint dry with this guy as a backing track and be happy. Check out something for more visually appealing  at the top and look out for the release on November the 13th.

[Listen] Local Natives - "Breakers"

2013 will be kicked off in style with a brand new album from LA's finest... Local Natives. It was way back at the end of 2009 that they dropped the album Gorilla Manor in the UK (2010 in the US) and I for one have missed them dearly. They've just announced that they are set to release Hummingbird, via Frenchkiss/Infectious on January 29th 2013. Mark your calendars once you get them from Santa in a few months time!

Chatting with Pitchfork not too long ago they talk about the differences in making the two albums.

We've had the craziest highest highs of our lives in the last two years, and we've also had the lowest lows at the same time. It's a heavier record for us. You'd see the titles and be like, "Heavy metal." We got a lot deeper on this album. Gorilla Manor is a little lighter on the surface.

As well as the announcement comes a brand new track to sample. Titled "Breakers" it starts with frantic drums, bright guitars and claps before breaking into an Arcade Fire crescendo and back down again for the vocal with just a palm muted guitar and theremin/whale like sound. It does seem a little darker and less hopeful than some of the sounds on Gorilla Manor but it is just as delectable to the ears. It's set for release on October 23rd digitally and the band will embark upon a tour in November and into next year. Dates after the jump via Pitchfork.

[Listen] Haim - "Don't Save Me"

Some new tunes from Haim finally hit the net we've pretty much survived solely on an EP from earlier in the year. It was premiered on Radio One yesterday yet it doesn't come with news of any further releases or a full length effort. We've waited this long, I guess it won't be too hard to wait even longer, right?

Stream it below via Overmuziek and let us know what you think.

[Watch] Deep Vally - "End of the World" (Official Video)

Some sexy girl fronted rock 'n' roll for you guys this afternoon in the shape of  LA-based Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards or as they're better known, Deep Vally. In fact, they've actually just been announced as support for Muse on some of their sold out European dates in the coming months. That's HUGE! Good on 'em, but before we get ahead of ourselves you can today enjoy their video for "End of the World". It's a grizzly full frontal attack on the senses and I for one am very much looking forward to more of this.
