[Listen] Jimi Hendrix - "Somewhere" (Preview)

Today marks what would of been one of the greatest musicians to walk the earth's 70th birthday. Jimi Hendrix undoubtedly changed the way, I for one, and millions of others look at music. His music spans generations. I remember once listening with my Granddad as a pre-teen and wondering what the hell my ears had been awoken to. When I first got into guitar music he was the first place I went to hortly after. He's also the reason I've spent far too much money on guitar pedals over the past few years as well as aiding my tired self with far too many late nights playing until my fingers had blisters trying to replicate his legendary tone. To celebrate the occasion, today we can preview a new single titled "Somewhere" from his forthcoming posthumous album, People, Hell & Angels, which is set for release on March 5th next year.

RollingStone have offered up a clip that shows Eddie Kramer talking about the track in a preview clip and he funnily enough talks about Jimi's guitar sound and the impact his pedals, in this clip his Wah, had on his experience with Jimi. Kramer engineered Hendrix's classic Electric Ladyland at the legendary studios of the same name. The song itself features Stephen Stills and drummer Buddy Miles rocking with Jimi. Check it out above and be sure to look out for more tracks creeping online in the coming months. Happy birthday, Jimi.

[Watch] Local Natives - "Breakers" (Official Video)

I was bloody over the moon when Local Natives returned last month with a brand new track "Breakers", so much so that I've been listening a little bit too much to Gorilla Manor, but you can forgive me for that, right? The new track has just been given the official video treatment and it's a little bit of a lot to take in... Like, it's pretty random and full of space men on a beach and scary masks.

The track is the first to be taken from their new album Hummingbird, which is to be released via Frenchkiss/Infectious on January 29th 2013. Mark your calendars.

[Watch] HAIM - "Don't Save Me" (Official Video)

HAIM have unleashed the visual accompaniment for their infectious little number know as "Don't Save Me" which we got a taste of at the start of last month. The video sees the sisters go 3 on 3 in some basketball showing their skills against 3 lads. Also digging the synchronised dancing from the ladies too. Check it out at the top as we await news on a full length set for 2013.

[Watch] Soundgarden - "By Crooked Steps" x "Been Away Too Long" Live on Kimmel

We've Soundgarden make several late night appearances since the release of their album King Animal. We first got to enjoy them drop several performances on Later... with Jools Holand, and then pop in to David Letterman's slot. They made it a trio in a month last night with two tracks being played on Jimmy Kimmel Live! First up they performed "By Crooked Steps" followed by "Been Away Too Long". Stellar renditions as always. Props to The Audio Perv as always for the video support.

I must say I've really been enjoying the new album the past few weeks so if you've not picked up King Animal yet I'd highly recommend it.

[Listen] Darwin Deez - "Free (The Editorial Me)" (Official Video)

That feel good music of Darwin Deez is back today with a fuzzy bang. Following the announcement of his new single last week tonight, Zane Lowe on Radio One, had the pleasure of debuting "Free (Editorial Me)" and shortly after Deez himself took to the web to unleash the video. It shows him having a little (a lot) of déjà vu in his job at a store of sorts. We've all surely had this feeling in our daily jobs so it's an entertaining watch I only wish some days I could break free like this. The heavy bass-line also kind of reminds me of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World a little too...

Songs For Imaginative People set for release next year on the 11th of February.

[Listen] Wu Lyf - "T R I U M P H"

I had the privilege of catching Wu Lyf live a few times over the past few years. One of which was a large homecoming show in Manchester under a bridge which made for a magical evening. I was quite sad to see then over the weekend that it seems the local lads have called it quits. Lead singer Ellery Roberts posted up a new track online along with a reason for wanting to end the band and move on in a rather thought provoking statement.

Head over here to read the full statement from them and hit play above on what quite possibly could be their final ever song, "T R I U M P H". The news comes just weeks after the band had a similar left to right when they posted up a picture minus Ellery to their Facebook page (which actually appears to have been deleted now!). But as of writing this Wu Lyf are Wu Dead.
