[Watch] Toro Y Moi - "Say That" (Official Video)
Chaz Bundick, the mastermind behind Toro Y Moi, once again stars in one of his own music videos, the first being his detached performance in the video for "So Many Details". This time around, though, Bundick gives us a somewhat more expressive delivery as he explores the vast wonders of nature, all the while wearing an orange sweater. Nerdy dance moves in a forest glade, tree hugging, and panoramic shots are in plentiful supply here. Check out the clip above.
Toro Y Moi's third studio album Anything In Return is out on January 22nd.
[Listen] Local Natives - "Heavy Feet"
Local Natives recently dropped by the KCRW studio to perform for Morning Becomes Eclectic to preview songs from their second studio album Hummingbird. During the live session, the band delivered a chilling rendition of "Heavy Feet", the second single from their forthcoming LP. Upon my first hearing the song, it sent shivers down my spine, with emotional harmonies and echoing guitar plucks resonating deeply. On the other hand, it could have been the pairing of a cold apartment and shirtlessness, but that's neither here nor there.
Stream "Heavy Feet" below, with both the live KCRW version and a studio stream of the song available for your listening pleasure. Hummingbird is out on January 29th through Frenchkiss/Infectious.
[Watch] Kendrick Lamar - "Backseat Freestyle" (Official Video)
Kendrick Lamar gives us a monochrome insight into his lifestyle, his family, and his Compton upbringing in his self-directed video for the good kid, m.A.A.d. city track "Backseat Freestyle". The five-minute clip perfectly captures the feeling of the song, but the highlight is easily Kendrick's representation of his father's undying quest for Domino's pizza. Check out the full video above.
[Watch] Beach House - "New Year" (Video)
Beach House begin their new year reminiscing about moments and memories that defined their 2012, and what better way to do it than pair those visuals with the aptly titled "New Year"? Using footage compiled during their Bloom recording sessions at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas, the band paints a picture full of heartfelt memories. As they explain:
It’s more of a home video thing, not a music video…….we just thought these moments and the memories they involve fit this song."
Check out the video above.
[Listen] Starfucker - "Say To You"
Starfucker graced the end of our 2012 with two fantastic tracks from their eclectic and quirky imaginations, the groovy "While I'm Alive" and the bombastic, party-friendly "Leave It All Behind". The band quickly returns in the New Year to bring us yet another taste of their forthcoming third LP Miracle Mile. When paired with the two previous tracks, "Say To You" is the calm after the storm, after the deluge of alcohol and the New Years-induced hangovers. It's a nice throwback to the band's usual inclusion of dreamy, quiet tracks, the type that you can lose yourself in. Lose yourself below.
[Listen] DOOM - "Doomsayer" (Remix)
In a fitting move, rap's resident doom enthusiast DOOM released a remix of his track "Doomsayer" on December 21st, the day the world was (apparently) supposed to end. Now that the Mayan doomsday calendar conspiracy craziness has passed, we can all enjoy the nostalgic rap stylings of DOOM. The erratic and weird lyricism of DOOM is paired with solid remix production courtesy of DJ/engineer Young Guru, and the result fits perfectly into the repertoire of the masked rap villain. Finish the year off right, stream it below.

[Listen] Biffy Clyro - "Merry Xmas Everybody" (Slade Cover) Live on Radio One
So Christmas is next week. Next frikkin' week guys! Feeling festive yet? I've been pretty grouchy myself but today while nursing a heavy head from lack of sleep in the office, my day was brightened and my festive cheer actually kicked into over drive for the first time this year. The reason for that was this merry sounding cover from Biffy Clyro of Slade's classic hit "Merry Xmas Everybody" complete with a false start and a little slip up from Simon half way through before a big sing along at the end. Wonderful. It took place in Fearne Cotton's house as part of her Christmas Party show today on Radio One. Check it out below and get in the spirit. Smile too 'cos the world didn't end!
