[News] Yeah Yeah Yeahs Announce Fourth LP

Yeah Yeah Yeahs will return later this spring with a brand new album, their fourth studio LP and the follow-up to 2009's It's Blitz!. Titled Mosquito, the album was produced by TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek and will be released on April 16th. After squashing rumors that he was producing the whole of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' latest work, James Murphy will at least be producing one of the tracks on the upcoming release, which will feature Dr. Octagon (otherwise known as Kool Keith).

When speaking on the album with Pitchfork, frontwoman Karen O said:

We have this little shitty studio downtown [in New York] that belongs to us, so we wrote songs and recorded demos whenever we felt inspired; it was kind of like how we did Fever to Tell and our first demo. And emotionally, it’s been a rollercoaster– being back in New York is intense for me. I’ve gone through an identity crisis. It’s been very emotionally intense for Nick, too. He was going through a break-up while we were making the album. It was just all kind of down."

Below, you can watch footage of the band debuting material from Mosquito during performances this past weekend. As well, the artwork for the album is pictured above, with the crazy visual feast being a creation of animator Beomsik Shimbe Shim.

[Watch] Foo Fighters Live at Reading Festival 2012 (Full Set)

It's Monday, I'm tired and it's my Birthday. With that in mind I fancied giving you all a little gift instead of just opening them all up for myself. I can be nice like that sometimes... Foo Fighters may have just announced a little break and Dave Grohl is keeping himself busy with the Sound City Documentary but last year Dave, Taylor, Chris, Pat and Nate played pretty much every festival and arena imaginable, finishing up with sets at Leeds and Reading festival at the end of August in the UK. I was lucky enough to witness the Leeds set which will remain up there with one of my all time favorite shows. Ever. Foos were made for shows like this and they have a way of involving everyone in the crowd from the kids on the barrier to the people climbing on top of bins in the back for a better view. It's festival rock at its finest. Over the weekend though I stumbled upon this video of their entire Reading set whilst in a drunken birthday stupor.

Clocking in at over 2 hours long it features all of the usual hits and on stage shenanigans from the band along with plenty of crowd participation, not that Dave and his lungs need it. Take some time out of your day and enjoy the show. Happy birthday to me, huh.

[Watch] Biffy Clyro - "Black Chandelier" Live on The Jonathan Ross Show

Biffy Clyro are preparing to unleash their double LP Opposites in a few weeks time and over the weekend they were the musical guest of choice on The Jonathan Ross Show. They brought with them a flawless performance of current single "Black Chandelier" all be it with a more TV friendly shortened bridge. The band are also about to embark upon their first arena tour of the UK in March and I think it's fully deserved from the boys. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot of Biffy in 2013.

Check out the performance at the top of the page via Youtube.

[Listen] Justin Timberlake feat. Jay-Z - "Suit & Tie" (Prod. by Timbaland)

After the huge commotion Justin Timberlake stirred up just a few days ago, announcing his return with one hell of a teaser video, the countdown on his website has ended with the release of "Suit & Tie", his first song in over 6 years. Built on top of slick, extravagant production courtesy of Timbaland, the song sees Justin dishing out his trademark delicate-yet-sexy vocals to much delight. What's even better, though, is a slowed down minute providing ample opportunity for Jay-Z to share in the limelight. From start to finish, "Suit & Tie" is a glimmering, luxurious return for Justin. Stream the track below, or, if you're inclinded to purchase it, head over to iTunes. Let us know your thoughts on the song in the comments below.

"Suit & Tie" serves as our first taste of Timberlake's forthcoming album The 20/20 Experience, which, according to an open letter to his fans, will be out sometime this year.

[Listen] Frank Ocean feat. André 3000 & Big Boi - "Pink Matter" (Remix)

To be a highlight from Frank Ocean's already outstanding debut Channel Orange is an achievement in itself, but "Pink Matter", which features André 3000, has now become even better. Serving as an Outkast reunion of sorts, Big Boi drops his remix of the crooner's smooth beat, deftly blending his raps amongst the funky basslines and sultry guitar riffs. It feels good to hear Big Boi and André together again. Stream the cut below.

[Listen] Christopher Owens - 'Lysandre' (Full Album Stream)

It was a sad day when Christopher Owens announced that Girls would be no more, but that sadness quickly dissipated as Owens directed his efforts towards a solo career. While the solo outing sees him exploring some new territory, fans of Girls should feel right at home in the soft, sunsoaked sounds on offer throughout Lysandre. The album is a great solo debut, to say the least, as Owens spins a tale of love and loss, with the stark honesty of his lyrics weaving in and out of beautiful upbeat instrumentation. Much of the album combines the familiar with the exotic, with songs such as "New York City" displaying a newfound curiosity in Owens. That song, for example, rather bluntly surprises you with fantastic saxophone work, but the beauty is that it doesn't overshadow the rest of the undeniably energetic track.

With honest, thoughtful lyrics and a familiar yet expansive sound, Lysandre is a great first outing for Owens' blossoming solo career. So, before it hits stores and digital retailers next Tuesday, why not judge for yourself by listening to the full album below.
