[Listen] Thee Oh Sees - "Minotaur"

San Francisco psych rockers Thee Oh Sees take a different turn in the new year, straying away from their psychedelic, garage rock tendencies with a new cut titled "Minotaur". The offering is more laid back and melodic than the frantic rock jams we've become accustomed to, but the change works. The real question is, what can we expect from the rest of the band's upcoming album, Floating Coffins? Stream the song below, or nab a free download here.

Floating Coffins is out on April 16th.

[Listen] Fitz and The Tantrums - "Out Of My League"

Fitz and The Tantrums have released the first single from their upcoming sophomore album More Than Just A Dream, the quick tempoed, anthemic "Out Of My League". With a swath of synthesizers amidst chanting choruses and groovy basslines, the song exemplifies the band's new direction: "Eighties influence has kind of come to the foreground, and the Sixties soul is kind of layered behind that", says frontman Michael Fitzpatrick. I loved the band's first album, but this new sound already has me excited for what's to come. Stream "Out Of My League" below.

More Than Just A Dream is out on May 7th through Elektra Records.

[Wacth] Wet Nuns - "Broken Teeth" (Official Video)

Still feeling a little worse for wear after a heavy weekend? We've all been there and I'm currently in that horrible place right now. This video should help wake you the eff up though. It's for a track we posted a week ago from Wet Nuns and it's a rip roaring slug titled "Broken Teeth", with a video that portrays all the energy of the track so damn well. The reason it does that is it uses live clips of the band performing, cut together with some awesome looking animation. Check it out above and wake the hell up!

Their new EP Broken Teeth is set to be released on the 18th of February.

[Watch] Muse - "Supremacy" (Official Video)

When Muse released their latest album, The 2nd Law, many people were a little, well, confused. It was a miss match of genres and styles but it kind of worked. Kind of. Their video for album opener "Supremacy" is a little odd too. It sees some black metal lovers hanging out, surfing and having a whale of a time in LA. It just doesn't match the Bond theme-like track it's paired with. The track on the other hand, I bloody love. Just not sold on the video here. Still, more riff please.

The 2nd Law is out now.

[Listen] The 1975 - "Head.Cars.Bending"

I personally backed The 1975 to have a very impressive 2013 late last month. Hailing from Manchester they just seem to do no wrong in my eyes. They have a knack for making exquisitely catchy tracks with all the get up and go you should expect from a band of 20 something who've played together for as long as they have. Yet with their new track,"Head.Cars.Bending", they're taking a different approach. Matt's vocals are recognisable a mile away but the electronic R&B vibe the song is comprised of, not the guitar jaunt we've got comfortable with in the past 6 months or so, is a rather refreshing side step. The versatility this shows from the band is pretty fuckin' great.

It's taken from their forthcoming EP Music For Cars which is set for release on March 4th via Dirty Hit.

[Listen] The Virgins - "Flashbacks, Memories and Dreams"

It's been a long time since The Virgins released their self-titled debut, four years, eight months, and four days to be exact, and now they're back with a new album and a lead single to accompany it. The sophomore release, titled Strike Gently, is due out on March 12th on Cult Records, and with it comes "Flashbacks, Memories and Dreams".

As a big fan of their first album, it makes me happy to say that "Flashbacks, Memories and Dreams" is fantastic from start to finish. It's groovy, energetic, and refined, bringing a unique attitude yet not hitting you over the head with it. After a near five-year absence, The Virgins quickly reclaim their status of being really fucking cool. Stream the song below, or head here to download it for free.

[Watch] Dirty Projectors Perform "Offspring Are Blank" on Conan

Dirty Projectors pulled from their excellent sixth album Swing Lo Magellan during a visit to Conan last night, where they performed album opener "Offspring Are Blank". David Longstreth impresses as always with his malleable voice, expanding and contracting his vocal chords with relative ease. Check out their performance above.

The band's two most recent releases, Swing Lo Magellan and About to Die EP, are available now. As well, the New York outfit will be appearing at numerous festivals in the coming months, including Sasquatch! and Governors Ball.

[Watch] Liars - "WIXIW" (Official Video)

Liars steer away from their previous baffling endeavours, aiming instead towards a slick, stylized contrast in their new video for "WIXIW", the title track from last year's WIXIW. The black-and-white video, directed by Alex 2Tone, focuses on a committed individual and his slam dunk attempts. Frontman Angus Andrew described the clip to EW as "a beautifully shot black-and-white basketball version of Sisyphus", which makes sense when you realize that said individual never sinks a basket. It still makes for a visually stunning experience. Check it out above.
