[Listen] SKATERS - "Deadbolt"
SKATERS humble from New York City and have been busy working away all summer in the UK and the US alike. If you were at Reading or Leeds Festival this summer I hope you caught these guys, cause they know how to party. Their new track "Deadbolt" is a fuzzy mess of energetic freedom. Kind of reminds me of Wavves a little and this is by no means a bad thing at all. It may be a little while until we get to enjoy the band's aptly named debut album, Manhattan, which is due on out next year on the 24th of February. If you like what you hear then high five yourself. Then do it again as they'll be on the road in the coming months playing shows on both sides of the Atlantic. Firstly with Palma Violets in the US before coming to the UK to play shows with Deep Vally. Make the jump to check the dates.
Before that though, cast your mind to a dingy karaoke club where you may sing classic hits such as R Kelly's "Ignition" and you may be filled with images of regret. SKATERS manage to capture an essence of those clubs and karaoke with their lyrics video for "Deadbolt". It's nice to see a pretty nice Lyrics video as I'm not usually a fan.

[Watch] Lulu James - "Sweetest Thing" (Official Video)
The soul filled northern wonder that is Lulu James is slowly but surely stomping her foot into the UK scene. We may of only had a handful of songs from her this year but everyone has been absolutely sublime. Her latest single, "Sweetest Thing", is due for release on November 3rd via RCA and she's just offered up the monochromatic visual for the track. A simple yet effective accompaniment sees Lulu performing the track in a slightly more understated fashion in comparison to her previous clips. It fits the song nicely though, as I feel this shows a bit more of a gentle and more affectionate side to her matching the love filled lyrics and a subtle delivery. Lulu is currently supporting Ellie Goulding on tour and will be part of Annie Mac's AMP tour in November. It's certainly looking like Lulu is set to take the world by storm in 2014 when she delivers her album.
[Watch] Poliça - "Warrior Lord"
Poliça will soon be releasing their highly anticipated album Shulamith and in preparation of that they've offered up the clip for "Warrior Lord". I seriously couldn't listen to their last album Give You The Ghost and from what I'm hearing of this new one, it's certain to deliver a punch of gentle thought-provoking wisdom. If you're like me and can't get enough of Channy Leaneagh you're in luck as the band will be playing this week on Later... with Jools Holland. We'll post the clips from their performances in the week when they appear online but until then enjoy the new song and video below.
Shulamith is set to be released on the 22nd of October.
[Listen] Digital Farm Animals - 'Bugged Out' (EP)
Longing for the weekend? Fear not 'cause we've got your back. Imagine you're enjoying a few drinks with friends this week ahead of schedule with the help of the Bugged Out EP from Digital Farm Animals. Three tracks for your listening pleasure, all of which have a slightly different feel. Each track also features a different vocalist, "Bad Idea" has a highly head moving chorus provided by MNEK and Holly Partridge. "Adore You" makes me feel like I should be playing Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, cruising down the beach in a soft-top. It manages this by featuring huge sounding vocals from Ofei. Finally, "Buggin" featuring London based Tyson rounds off an EP of weekend proportions nicely.
If you like what you hear you can grab a copy for yourselves with the low, low price of a Facebook 'Like' over here.
[Listen] Attu - "Don't Sleep"
Shake off the cobwebs guys, it's a new day so how about a new act to start your Wednesday with? It's not a lot to ask for you to give 4 minutes of your day to this little treat. Humbling from London and started by Stefan Antoinette, Attu are now a four piece creating frantic, well organised dance worthy tracks that rise and fall in all the right places. This week they've tempted us into multiple listens of the just released "Don't Sleep" and it's the perfect introduction to what could be a very exciting act in 2014. We can expect this track to appear on an EP in the new year but for now just sit back, relax, and enjoy "Don't Sleep". We'll be keeping a close eye on these guys. Lovely stuff.
[Listen] RY X - "Berlin"
It's always nice when something arrives in the inbox that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. It's even nicer when you get something that makes the hairs on the hairs stand up. Know what I'm saying? RY X did just that for me today when his EP Berlin arrived. A little late to the party you could say on our end? Maybe... but I'd rather be late than miss the party all together and I have a feeling this party is just getting started. The LA based via Australia artist puts together beautifully arranged, simple, acoustic joys. The kind of music you'd listen to while staring longingly out of a train window hour after hour. It's music to get lost in. Music to move you. Music from and artist who truly is paving himself a road to fans the world over. It's quite simply stunning. Check out the title track "Berlin" below and if you want, head over to Spotify to check out the full EP. Or you could just buy it and show some love that way.
[Watch] ML (Mickey Lightfoot) - "L.O.S.T" Feat. Darq E Freaker (Official Video)
Speaking of time flying. It was last September when we introduced you to ML (Mickey Lightfoot) and he's been busy creating what sounds like some super fresh sounding songs. His latest release, "L.O.S.T", is going to feature on his EP To Kill A Flockin Bird which will drop via ML's very own Peckish imprint on the 7th of October. The track has some chopping and changing verses set across a big sounding backdrop and then the chorus hits and steps it up into another gear. The production from Darq E Freaker is on point and this song should be getting some major attention in no time. The video also makes a step forward and nicely uses gifs to create an equally jaunting clip. Check it out below.
[Watch] Jagwar Ma - "Come Save Me" (Official Video)
Jagwar Ma have been riding the psych-powered wave they've road over from Australia on for a while now. While at it, they're sounding like they've somehow managed to travel back in time to the 90's, and quite frankly it's bloody marvelous. Their new single, "Come Save Me", is set to be released on October 14th via Marathon Records and it's been given a fitting visual accompaniment full of colour and psychedelic trips. The band are on tour right now and will return to the UK for some newly announced dates in 2014. All of their current shows can be found over here. Can someone please slow the rate at which the earth is spinning 'cause this year has flown by?! Be sure to check them out live if you can after having your mind warped a little by the video below.
