[News] The xx Announce Some Unique 2013 Live Shows
The xx have just announced some very unique sounding shows for 2013. Venues include a waterfront park in Portugal, a spooky abandoned Berlin theme park (I just can't help but think of Zombieland here) and a London palace. The band will headline the shows nightly but they will begin in the day with a full bill of acts. Check out what they said regarding the shows below:
Night + Day is a series of events, curated by us, to start in the summer of 2013. We searched high and low for unique and beautiful locations to stage these shows and picked the artists that we most respect and admire to join us. The events will run from early afternoon, with some of our favourite music (and food) to take you from day into night.
Check the dates below. And to register for a pre-order jump over here. Romy stopped by BBC 6Music earlier and you can hear her talkign about the shows below too.
The xx Night + Day shows:
Jardim da Torres de Belëm, Lisbon (May 5)
Spreepark, Berlin (May 18)
Osterley Park & House (June 23)
[Listen] The xx Perform Stripped Down Versions of "Angels" and "Teardrops"
The xx's sound is already pretty stripped down as it is, but the minimalist stylings of the UK outfit were stripped down even further when they dropped by Dermot O'Leary's BBC Radio 2 show. During the visit, the band performed raw renditions of Coexist tracks "Angels" and "Teardrops". Stream them both below.

[Watch] Andrew Bird and St. Vincent Perform "Lusitania" in a Bedroom
Andrew Bird and St. Vincent in a bedroom. The result? A damn good acoustic joint rendition of Bird's "Lusitania", which found itself on his fantastic early 2012 release Break it Yourself. What else did you expect from the two filming themselves in a bedroom? Watch it above.
The clip is a small part of the feature length concert documentary Andrew Bird: Fever Year, which was directed by Xan Arranda and will continue to be screened at film festivals around the world throughout the early part of 2013.
[Watch] Tanlines Perform "All of Me" on Fallon
Tanlines stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform their Mixed Emotions highlight "All of Me", which translated very well to their late-night television debut. Check out the performance above (via The Audio Perv).
[Watch] YADi - "Blow" x "Sahara Heart" Live Session
I was introduced to YADi a few months back via a session she recorded for Hypetrak in which she performed a few tracks and I was interested from the outset. A uniquely brilliant live voice was accompanied by all London-based Algerian musicians was recorded at London's Fish Factory Studios and the results are riveting. Taking a western band set up and mixing it with traditional raï instruments I couldn't take my eyes off the screen and listened on a loop for a good hour. Today she's let loose two other recordings from that session in the shape of "Blow" and "Sahara Heart". They're up at the top and down below respectively. Get familiar and look out for a debut album next year.
[Watch] The Gaslight Anthem - "Here Comes My Man" Live on Conan
Last night's musical guest on Conan were The Gaslight Anthem who put in a to be expected great sounding live rendition of their single "Here Comes My Man". The track features on their recently released album Handwritten and you can re-watch the performance up at the top of the page. A nice start to a winter filled Friday morning.
[Watch] Captain Murphy and Earl Sweatshirt Perform "Between Friends" Live
Last week, we dropped the not-so-shocking news that Captain Murphy was indeed Flying Lotus, and now some footage from his debut Los Angeles concert has surfaced. The footage captured highlights an surprise appearance from Earl Sweatshirt, who performed the song "Between Friends" alongside the Captain. The second clip captures the moment where Captain Murphy removes his mask to reveal his true identity. Check out the two clips above and below.
As well, if you've yet to grab a free copy of Captain Murphy's Duality mixtape, you can download the deluxe edition here.
[News] Arcade Fire Debut New Material at Secret Show
Arcade Fire's album The Suburbs is over 2 years old now, and that means the band have been locked away working on some new material for quite some time. The ever reliable Arcade Fire Tube now points out that the Montreal group played a small secret show at Breakglass Studios over the weekend on Saturday night in their hometown. Exciting, right? They also used a different band name using the moniker Los Identiks and the new music was said to be "dance-y" and according to The Vine the tiny audience of about 100 people consisted of "friends, strangers, randoms". Now, the band were pretty strict with their filming policy, and no foortage actually hit the net so props to them and the crowd for staying true to that so for now all we can do is get excited. Check out a new track titled "Crucified Again" from New York in October.
We're expecting a new album from the band some time in 2013.
