[Listen] She & Him - 'Volume 3' (Full Album Stream)
In between being a New Girl and that girl the majority of guys think is cute in an annoying kind of way, Zooey Deschanel likes to make sweet, sweet music with M. Ward under the name of She & Him. Next week, they'll release Volume 3 on Merge Records and it's sure to make your knees weak and your heart melt. Well, it might do, if you're into folky original compositions from Zooey along with a few covers for good measure. The album can be pre-ordered on their website ahead of release and below you can stream it in full courtesy of NPR.
[Watch] Crystal Castles - "Affection" (Official Video)
Crystal Castles have released an interesting visual to sit alongside "Affection". It's made up entirely of footage taken while they were on tour in South America. It's then been spliced together Stephen Agnew after Alice was filmed by Ethan, Crystal Castles were filmed by Chris Chartrand, the bands live drummer, and Ashley McMinn was filmed by Marc Pannozzo a long time Crystal Castles video collaborator. The result is a blur of intoxication and frantic performances. Perfect for the beautiful, moody melody of the track.
"Affection" is set for it's official release on the 10th of June in the UK and will feature bonus material. We'll let you know what that bonus material is as and when we have it!
[Listen] The D.O.T. - 'Diary' (Full Album Stream)
I think we all were a bit bummed when Mike Skinner called an end to The Streets. That's probably why we've been a little antsy about getting hold of the second album from Mr. Skinner and Rob Harvey, previously of The Music. Under their moniker of The D.O.T, Next week they'll finally release Diary, but as is the norm these days, you can stream the album in full prior to release next Monday (May 6th) on Cooking Vinyl. Check out the record that mixes together a bit of this and a bit of that below via NME.
[Watch] The 1975 - "The City" (Official Video)
At the start of the month we got to enjoy the new version of The 1975's track, "The City". With the re-work came a bigger all round sound resulting in a clean, crisp, arena ready track that's catchy as hell and no doubt going to see them continue to gain mass radio play. Keeping with the aesthetic they've had going in previous videos, they've let loose another monochrome clip for the aforementioned new single. Check out the stylish looking visual accompaniment up at the top.
The band are to release their full length debut later this year and they'll be playing a tonne of festivals this summer along with some US tour dates in June to boot. They're basically on the road for the rest of the year! Dates can be found here.
[Watch] Tribes - "Dancehall" (Official Video)

[Listen] Jimmy Eat World - 'Damage' (EP)
Being in your mid-twenties, and 'discovering' music in you mid-teens most likely meant you'd of had a few staples in your Windows Media Player back then. (Yeah, I had Media Player for quite a while before converting to iTunes when I got my first brick of an iPod) One of the staples for my friendship group was Jimmy Eat World. You may remember them too if you were of a certain musical persuasion back in the early oughties. I wasn't fully aware they were still going, (I last posted about them in 2011) but they have a new album on the way, Damage, their seventh studio record, and it was produced by the extremely talented Alain Johannes. It's set for release on the 11th of June. Last weekend for RSD they released the Damage EP on which the title track of the aforementioned album was released along with a Radiohead cover. Check them both out below via Antiquiet.
[Watch] SPLASHH - "All I Wanna Do" (Official Video)
With Summer slowly beginning to poke its head through the clouds on the odd occasion, it's about time we had some music that brought the warmth along too 'cause who knows if we're actually going to have a proper bit of sun. At least us Brits anyway. Welcome SPLASHH to the equation, with their Southern hemisphere roots, the laid back guitar and vocals of this track "All I Wanna Do" is the perfect intro to the coming months and good times with friends. They've been slaving away self-producing their debut album which is due out on June 3rd but for now, get a little warmer and hit play above. Toasty.
[Watch] The Dillinger Escape Plan - "When I Lost My Bet" (Official Video)
The Dillinger Escape Plan are preparing to unleash what is shaping up to be a face melting new album called One Of Us The Killer. An album sampler surfaced at the start of the month and the record itself isn't set for release until the 14th of May via the band's own Party Smasher Inc., in partnership with Sumerian Records. We've also got to hear lead single "Prancer" last month. They've now released a rather graphic video for new track "When I Lost My Bet" and it's a little gory featuring blood and guts but I wouldn't fully class it as NSFW. Get out of the mid-week slump by hitting play and turning this ish up loud. Wakey, wakey!
