[Watch] The 1975 - "Sex" (Official Video)
We recently got to enjoy the new version of The 1975's single "Sex" and now they've let loose the visual for it. Breaking from their normal black and white aesthetic they opt for a colour narrative, alongside a performance from the band too. It works pretty well and Matt from the band had a lot to say about the idea which you can read after the jump.
The band are set to release their self-titled debut on September 9th via Dirty Hit/Polydor.

The main idea behind the new video for “Sex” was centered around us wanting to incorporate a narrative that acted out the lyrical content of the song. It felt important for the narrative to be the true story of lyrics. So many of our tracks are based on real experiences, it was integral to have an honest portrayal of this. The make up of our music is centered around the juxtaposition of very honest often self deprecating personal stories set against uplifting major chord progressions. It is this dualism and notion of “sound tracking” our own lives which makes us cite John Hughes as such an important influence. Our love of cinematic music really drives us creatively and we wanted this represented in the video, we wanted to make a trailer to the movie of the song if you like.”“We really love the dualism in the video between the muted almost black and white performance shots of the band set against the cinematic colour of the narrative. We have used black and white for every other video to date so it seemed like incorporating colour would be a massive step for us to make, in reality the creative decision made itself as we liked the obvious separation that the colour provided for the narrative against the performance parts of the video. Our album and EP’s are totally separate entities, each EP is like a polaroid of a specific time and place, in regards to the visuals of the album, we want to make short films for our videos - like trailers almost, in the same way our songs are the narrative to our formative years the videos are the narrative to those songs. As a video “Sex” feels very un compromised, un predictable and from a artistic viewpoint very honest. That is always our main goal as a band. We are very proud of it. We found a true collaborative spirit with Adam Powell the director it was our desire to work with him and his passion and understanding towards our vision that led us to shooting in LA.
[Listen] Arctic Monkeys - "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?"
Another new Arctic Monkeys track has hit the web and it's a good'un. The track will feature on their highly anticipated new release AM and it goes by the name of "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?". Is it me or has Alex and the gang got a thing with asking questions at the moment? The track feels a little hip-hop in its beat but remains every bit as Monkeys as we've come to expect, both lyrically and musically. We've already heard "Do I Wanna Know?" from the album along with the B-Side, "2013", and this is another great addition to the catalogue. See what you make of it below via Tumblr.
AM is set for release on September 9th via Domino.
[Listen] The Vaccines - "Everybody's Gonna Let You Down"
The Vaccines return with a brand new track taken from their upcoming Melody Calling EP. The release will comprise four new tracks, including a remix by producers John Hill and Rich Costey, and will be released on August 12 via download. Today though you can enjoy a slightly different sounding, more mellow, rather sad and reflective song titled "Everybody's Gonna Let You Down". It's definitely a more mature sound from the band. See what you make of it below.
[Listen] Arctic Monkeys - "2013"
Arctic Monkeys have unleashed the B-Side to their single "Do I Wanna Know?" and it's a foot stomping, chicken neck worthy tune titled "2013". You can stream it in full below. Their highly anticipated new album, AM, will be out on September 9th via Domino and to support that they've just announced a UK arena tour set for October, dates of which can be found over here, although I'm pretty certain all dates sold out in minutes you may still be able to grab a few seats in the nosebleeds for a few venues.
2013 is the year of the Monkeys.
[Listen] The 1975 - "Sex"
So The 1975 offer up another slice of re-mastered energy from their forthcoming self-titled debut for fans. Having already previewed the big sounding re-take of "The City" they now give us "Sex" in a crisp, clean and immensely polished new version. Pretty sure the album is going to rocket them further up the festival bills in the coming years, but for now wrap your ears around this.
Their debut is scheduled for release via Dirty Hit/Polydor on September 2nd.
[News] Earl Sweatshirt Announces August Release Date for 'Doris', Reveals Tracklist

Earl Sweatshirt previously stated that his new album Doris would be released by the end of July. Now, though, it's confirmed that we'll be waiting a few weeks longer to hear his latest record. The Odd Future rapper took to Twitter, simply saying "DORIS AUG 20th." That was accompanied by a picture of the album's tracklisting in Earl's iTunes. Just one month to go until you can hear those fifteen tracks.
What's more, the above image was posted on Odd Future's Tumblr, and it looks to be the artwork for Doris.

[Watch] Dead Sons - "Gasoline"
Having some fun in the sun this weekend? Why not soundtrack it with the huge sounding new single from Sheffield's Dead Sons. Titled "Gasoline" it's the last we'll hear from the band in 2013, but it's a big farewell to a great year for them. I remember watching the band at their Manchester show in May and this song being played, I was eager to hear the recorded version and boy does it deliver. Riffs for days. A grandiose bridge reminiscent of Kyuss/QOTSA. Seriously, if you're sat in the garden right now having a beer and a BBQ, grab some big ass speakers and turn this up. Loud.
You can grab the download for the track from the 27th of July. The band have just announced that their last show of 2013 will take place on August 2nd at Sheffield's Leadmill. It's not to be missed! Treat yourself as it's free. You won't be disappointed. Also, carry on enjoying your weekend. (and beer!)
