[Watch] Andrew Bird - "Eyeoneye" (Official Video)
In the new visuals for Andrew Bird's wonderfully cheerful "Eyeoneye," off of his latest LP Break It Yourself, we see a felt Bird in animated felt form with a charming combination of dancing, imagination and colour making for a fun and enjoyable video. Check out the whimsical Yu "Ewan" Morita-directed video above (via Etsy).
Andrew Bird's Break It Yourself is available now via Mom + Pop.
[Listen] Childish Gambino feat. Beck - "Silk Pillow"
Childish Gambino has been dropping new tracks regularly in the last two weeks, and today he dropped the most significant track yet from his forthcoming mixtape. We've already heard "We Ain't Them," "Black Faces," "Unnecessary," and "Tell Me," and now you can stream his brand new track produced by and featuring Beck. The song is currently untitled, but speculation points to it being titled "Silk Pillow." Either way, the Beck aided track is amazing in so many ways, with the production styles of both Gambino and Beck blending beautifully. Check it out below, and download it for free here. On a side note, whoever Gambino has commissioned to his artwork lately is incredibly talented and deserves a ton of praise.
[Dot to Dot Preview] Wavves
Earlier in the week we mentioned the return of Dot to Dot Festival along with a little tid-bit on the band Pulled Apart by Horses, who we will be making sure to check out over the weekend. In case you've forgotten, it takes place from June 2nd to 4th in Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester respectively.
Along with PABH we're pretty excited to check out Wavves. Nathan Williams will take to the UK bringing his surf punk with him and no doubt a fair bit of noise too. Although we've not had much in the shape of new material from Nathan since the release of the Life Sux EP late last year, the minimal approach to live shows should be something of a treat for the crowds at Dot to Dot. Check out a performance of "King of the Beach" from last year's Bonnaroo at the top to see what you could be enjoying.
If you're at the festival at any of the cities this weekend they'll be playing on the 2nd at Bristol's O2 Academy 1 at 8:30pm. In Nottingham they'll Jongleurs at 9pm (June 3rd), before finishing up on Monday, at Manchester's Sound Control Loft at 8:30pm. The full line up can be found here while the venue guide and set times for every other band are also up for your perusal here. Tickets are available for just £20!
[Watch] Poliça - "Wandering Star" (Official Video)
Poliça's Give You The Ghost has been floating around for quite some time and it's still getting heavy play on my end, how about yours? Whatever, the band have now uploaded a nice looking visual accompaniment for their great track, "Wandering Star". It's an interesting and entertaining watch. It starts of simply with an elderly woman sat in a loft before dancers appear from the walls and serenade the woman via modern dance. It's kind of odd really. Spot Lady Gaga if you can... I mean, you can't miss her on a day to day basis anyway but it's a nice non-cameo from her in the video. Dance your troubles away courtesy of Poliça above.
[Listen] Ellie Goulding x Xaphoon Jones - "High For This" (The Weeknd Cover)
Since the release of her debut album a few years back, Ellie Goulding has been just about everywhere. Toured the world and even played the Royal Wedding in the UK last summer. Not bad eh? Since then though it has been a little quiet from the Goulding camp. She's now teamed up with Chiddy Bang-producer Xaphoon Jones to cover The Weeknd. I like the sound of this already. They cover the Canadian's House of Balloons cut "High or This" and the results are a delight for the ears. Check it out below. Listen to this interesting clash of creative forces below. [Watch] Jay-Z x Kanye West - "No Church In The Wild" Feat. Frank Ocean (Official Video)
If you were in the UK last Summer, it's hard to forget the riots that took place. Predominantly in Manchester and London but a lot of the country was affected by the actions of a minority of kids lashing out. I think that event may have played a little role in the inspiration for Jay-Z and Kanye's new visual for "No Church In The Wild". The Frank Ocean featuring Throne track was shot in Prague and can be enjoyed at the top of the page.
If for some reason you haven't picked up Ye and Jay's collaborative long player, Watch The Throne, it's out now.
[Watch] Florence & The Machine - "Spectrum" (Official Video)
Florence & The Machine return with a new visual for their single "Spectrum" which features on their latest LP, Ceremonials. Ms Welch dons a weirdly cut red mop top in the video and it also features a lot of ballet dancers. A pretty neat looking visual from David LaChapelle though. See what you make of it at the top.
Earlier in the week we heard Calvin Harris' house remix of the track too. If you missed it, go have a listen.
[Listen] Bon Iver Performing "Stacks" at Sasquatch! 2012 (Live Recording)
This past weekend, the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington was swarmed by thousands upon thousands of music fans attending Sasquatch! 2012, which marked its tenth anniversary this year. One of the most sought after acts during the festival was none other than headliner Bon Iver, whose 90-minute set drew in one of the largest crowds all weekend. During the set, Justin Vernon and co. performed a fantastic yet solemn rendition of For Emma, Forever Ago track "Stacks," the live recording of which you can listen to below courtesy of my good friend Alec Ross. Stream it and enjoy!
