[Watch] Doomtree - "Beacon"

Team The Best Team aka Wings and Teeth aka Minneapolis hip hop collective Doomtree return with a brand new video off one of my favorite albums of 2011 No Kings. Although the album dropped back in November, the Doom Crew have been busy touring in support of their latest record and if you heard it in all its epicness you would understand why. But even with their crazy schedule the crew still finds time to put out some awesome videos like their latest steampunk themed visual for the No Kings' cut "Beacon" directed by Bo Hakala.

This dark and gritty video is one of my favorite videos that the collective have put out to date. Although it isn't Har Mar Superstar getting down(to his bare ass, literally) to some "Bangarang" karaoke, this video speaks for itself on how creative these group of artist are and also showcases the always beautiful Dessa, Sims looking like a crazed maniac while Mike Mictlan creeping around in the shadows which I call an all around win. But anyways, enough talk check the video out above and if you haven't already picked up No Kings (FOR SHAME) do so here.

If you still haven't caught the group on tour like myself (I know sad, right?) you still have a chance to catch them at the following events:

Doomtree Upcoming Tour Dates

[Watch] Nardwuar vs. M83

When M83 visited Vancouver back in April, the city's resident weirdo and interview aficionado Nardwuar the Human Serviette made sure to stop by to ask Anthony Gonzalez as many pressing questions as possible. The result? Gonzalez was, like many of Nardwuar's interviewees, stunned by his impressive knowledge and research, and reacted only with confusion to Nardwuar's signature sign-off. If you're a fan of M83, the interview is definitely worth the watch.

[News] Benjamin Francis Leftwich Announces US Tour

Here in the UK, Benjamin Francis Leftwich has made a little bit of a name for himself and following the release of his stunning debut, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, he's going from strength to strength. With the UK artists rising up through the charts in the US so much at the moment the natural step for him to take is to announce a US tour and to take his album to the masses. He'll do so with a headline North American tour scheduled for November and December. He's also preparing to release his album Stateside later in the year via Vagrant Records.

As well as this exciting news, Ben is also back in the studio recording some new tracks for the deluxe version of his debut. Working in the Church Studios, London with producer Ian Grimble he says:

"Its great to be back in the studio...I've been on tour for the last year so it's nice to be making new music again. I'm really proud of the new songs and I'm looking forward to sharing them with people. I'm in a really good creative headspace at the moment and feel like my song writing has developed whilst I've been on tour and experienced new people, places and things."

[Listen] Baroness - "March to the Sea" x "Take My Bones"

Occasionally you stumble cross an album by mistake, a track here and there is also quite common. With Baroness I was sat late at night on my phone in a darkened room when Daniel P Carter of the Radio One Rock show tweeted a pic of an album cover he thought was the best he'd heard in ages. He'd previously turned me onto the likes of Hawk Eyes who are now one of my favourite bands. That album he'd mentioned this time was Yellow & Green, the new release from the Georgia band Baroness which is set to drop on July 17th via Reprise Records. After searching out for some tracks I came across "Take My Bones" which is a well rounded sludge wall of noise and then last night another new track titled "March to the Sea" appeared online via Pitchfork. Check out the latter on P4K and "Take My Bones" below.

[News] The Strokes Working On New Album

The making of The Strokes' last album Angles was a struggle in every sense of the word. Not only did it take five years to record, but the recording process itself was fraught with setbacks, Julian Casablancas recording separate from the rest of the band, and an overall sense of disparity within the band. It's good to hear, though, that the band is back in the studio working on their fifth album, and they're all together recording as a band. According to Billboard, The Strokes are hard at work in New York's Electric Lady Studios on their as-of-yet-untitled fifth studio album. The album is being mixed by Gus Oberg, who helped mix both Angles and Albert Hammond Jr.'s 2008 solo effort Como Te Llama?, and is the band's final album under their contract with RCA. Let's all hope that the recording of this album will go over much more smoothly than Angles, and hopefully the band can recapture the fantastic sound and energy they put forth in their debut album Is This It over a decade ago.
