[Watch] General Fiasco - "Bad Habits" (Official Video)
General Fiasco have followed up the stream of their infectious track "Bad Habits". The black and white performance video shows the band in a bare brick room and definitely helps showcase the big guitar and drum sound of the song. Catchy hooks and a melody that'll continue to ring around your head long after the video finishes.
The single and their album titled Unfaithfully Yours will drop via Dirty Hit on July the 30th.
[Listen] Benjamin Francis Leftwich - "With A Little Help From My Friends" (Beatles Cover)
We know that Benjamin Francis Leftwich has a penchant for covering Beatles track, he did a wonderful job earlier in the year of covering their track "Ticket To Ride". Today he's feeling generous and offered up an interesting take on "With A Little Help From My Friends". I say interesting because it was recorded in a hotel room with his travelling recording kit. See the above photo for evidence. The reason he decided to let loose the track is that this Summer he'll be going rogue at a number of Festival's around the UK and is currently running a competition where the winner gets a private gig at their tent at any of the festivals he's playing. Expect some extra people surrounding around your tent if you win! Take a listen to the track below and head to his official site for the full details on how to be in with a chance of having Ben play your tent.
[Listen] Plan B - "Lost My Way" (Remix) Feat. Raekwon
Ever since getting my hands on Ben Drew aka Plan B's latest single "Ill Manors", the title track off his upcoming album of the same name, I haven't been able to stop bumping it on the regular. Now Drew has dropped a remix to the album's second single "Lost My Way" featuring none other than Wu Tang wordsmith Lex Diamonds aka Raekwon The Chef.
Folks that may be familiar with Plan B's chart topping sophomore album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks, may be slightly disappointed as the new album strays entirely from his soulful croons and returns Drew back to the world of hip hop. Peep the remix in the player below, as well as the original version of the single here. Ill Manors is set to be released August 21st through Atlantic Records.
[Listen] Deadmau5 - 'Veldt' (Full EP Stream)
It was back in April that Deadmua5 debuted a track called "Veldt" that was destined to be a part of an EP of the same name. Today though if you jump over to Rolling Stone you can stream the entire 4 track offering. All of the usual Deadmua5 goodness to get you in the mood for a party. See what you make of it and let us know.
[Watch] Michael Kiwanuka - "I'm Getting Ready" Live on Letterman
Michael Kiwanuka has had a pretty impressive 2012 and it's going from strength to strength as last night he made his network television debut Stateside with a visit to the legendary Ed Sullivan Theater. He performed his track "I'm Getting Ready" from his beautiful album Home Again. If you're yet to hear Michael perform this is a great little introduction to a great rising talent. Check it out at the top courtesy of The Audio Perv.
[Listen] Mumford & Sons with Birdy - "Learn Me Right"
A new collaboration from Mumford & Sons and Birdy has hit the net in the shape of a track they put together for the new Pixar movie, Brave. We've been awaiting some new material from Mumford for quite some time so it's very nice to have anything from their camp. Birdy takes the lead on vocal duties with Mumford & Sons acting in beautiful harmony on backing vocals.
Marcus Mumford had spoken regarding the track previously stating:
It's quite fun doing a song for a movie rather than for an album. We liked the idea of having an orchestra in the background and having a girl like Birdy sing - it's been quite liberating.
See what you make of it below.
[News] The Black Keys Cameo On 'Workaholics'
In last night's episode of Workaholics (a show that if you've never watched before you should get on the bandwagon immediately), The Black Keys made an awesome cameo appearance. Appearing as "two dudes with bodacious ponytails" in a courtroom scene, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney were easily a highlight of the episode. Head over to Comedy Central to stream parts of the episode for free, with the cameo kicking in at around the eight-minute mark.
[Listen] Cruiser - 'Cruiser' EP
While perusing Listen Before You Buy this morning, I came across a post introducing Cruiser, the solo project of twenty-sex year-old Andy States of Philadelphia. The post brought up an excellent point, in that as much as we as music bloggers want to listen to every music submission that comes through our inbox, it can be very difficult to keep up with that constant influx. But, as Cruiser shows, there are often some fantastic bands that sift through the mass of emails.
The moment I heard Cruiser's song "The Fritz," I was sold. It immediately reminded me of The Kooks, but after listening over and over again I found myself enjoying Cruiser much more than I ever did The Kooks. The catchiness of States' music is the result of eight years of hard work and demos, which eventually made their way into the hands of Jeremy Park, the man responsible for producing Youth Lagoon's fantastic debut LP The Year of Hibernation. The outcome of States and Park's work is the six-song Cruiser EP, a collection of tracks that are all to perfect for the summer ahead. Each song is full of depth that can be difficult to find even in bands with multiple members, but States pulls it off beautifully on his own. Melodic guitars build off one another, all the while carefree vocals drift along each catchy riff, making this the perfect beach-friendly soundtrack.
Cruiser's debut EP is available to download for the price of your choosing over at his Bandcamp page, and this comes highly recommended. Stream the EP below, and make sure to connect with Cruiser over on Facebook and Twitter.
