[Listen] Future Unlimited - "Sleep No More" (The Comsat Angels Cover)
Future Unlimited decided to celebrate the Fourth of July not by drinking excessively and barbecuing in their backyard (although it's entirely possible they could have been doing that), but rather by covering The Comsat Angels, one of the band's biggest influences. Their cover of "Sleep No More," like any good cover, stays true to the original, but in this case, the Nashville duo give the synth-punk track a more dreamy overhaul. Utilizing warm, ambient synths and a percussive set with more of a punch, Samuel D'Amelio and Dave Miller turn the song into four-and-a-half minutes of a spacy, romantic opera. Check it out below.
[SKOA Premiere] As Elephants Are - "War Cry" (Official Video)
We're happy to give you the first look at the brand new video from As Elephants Are, a band based down in the south of England, Buckinghamshire to be a little more precise. These guys are full of promise. This track titled "War Cry" has an epic score full of monstrous crescendos and catchy hooks. I can't quite put my finger on what artists it reminds me of but what I do know is these guys are looking like bright prospects in the coming months/years. Dance worthy drums with reverb filled guitars transport you away distant memories you'd once forgotten. The chorus' lyrics paired with the huge build are sure to raise a few hairs on the back of your neck. Check out the colourful kaleidoscopic visual accompaniment up at the top.
The track will be released on the 6th of August via the Once Upon A Time Records Singles Club. The independent label will release singles of bands they deem worthy. We'll be looking out for their future release indefinitely.
[Introducing] Coastal Cities - "Relief" (Official Video)
We're a bit late to the party for this one but then technically how late can we be when the band we're introducing are just out of School? Coastal Cities are a bright young UK prospect that we should definitely be keeping an eye on. Humbling from Buckinghamshire and are released their debut EP last December, Think Tank. Thing is, it was a well made release with an attention to detail you don't tend to get from a first EP. Fast forward to now and they're set to release a brand new single on July 30th called "Relief" via Once Upon A Time Records. Up at the top you can check out the official video for the single. Keep your eyes peeled for more from these guys as they're doing it better than a lot of bands did this stuff back in the 80's, and being so young I have a feeling they're going to blossom into a hot topic for many in the coming year.
If you dig the track head over to their Facebook to download it.
[Listen] Lykke Li - "Silver Springs" (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
There's been numerous Fleetwood Mac covers hitting the net in recent weeks. The reason for this is a compilation title Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac which is set for release on the 14th of Augusto via Hear Music/Concord. Numerous top rated artists appear as you can see from the artwork above. However this sensitive cover from Lykke Li made my ears perk up especially high upon hearing it. She tackles "Silver Springs" and the results are simply gorgeous. Late to the party much? But hey, who cares when the track is this great.
[Watch] Muse - "Survival" (Official Video)
Muse gave every fan a fright with their album trailer for The 2nd Law with the dubstep element it involved. Last week, though, heart rates dropped a little (before maybe rising again in excitement) when they let loose the official song of the London 2012 Olympics, "Survival". It's pure Muse cheese at its best and you can now watch the official visual accompaniment up at the top, which features footage from past Olympic Games the world over.
This track will also feature on the new album, The 2nd Law, which is set for release on the 17th of September.
[Watch] JEFF the Brotherhood - "Sixpack" (Official Video)
JEFF the Brotherhood have offered up the video for Dan Auerbach produced cut, "Sixpack". It's set to feature on their forthcoming LP Hypnotic Nights, which drops on July the 17th. The video is a summer infused jam full of splashing in the pool and a little bit of flesh perfect to get you in the mood for the long sun filled evenings we have to come in the next few months. Check it out at the top via Pitchfork.
Curren$y - "Jet Life" Feat. Young Jeezy & Lil Wayne (Remix)
It's a little weird when Curren$y doesn't upload a track for a while given that he tends to release new music on the regular week in week out. Since the release of The Stoned Immaculate last month he appears to have been enjoying himself and having some downtime. That is until last night when he took to Twitter to offer up a remix of the big tune "Jet Life," which features Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne. Check it out below.
