[Download] John Frusciante - "Walls and Doors"

Just when I think im done for the day, the homie Invisible Movement lets me know that the pre-order for the upcoming John Frusciante album PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone has launched as well as the debut of a new song. That's right kiddies, the former Chili Pepper's guitarist's new 9 track album is now available to pre-order at his official website and you can also get your taste of the new LP with the drum break heavy, melody changing, synth pop cut "Walls and Doors" in the player below which is also available as a Hi-Res wav file to download.

This song, recorded in September 2010, marks the point at which I began combining 60s and early 70s production styles with modern electronic production styles. This song was also the first time I successfully balanced pop music with abstract forms of music. This song showed me that the pop parts of myself and the more adventurous parts of myself could blend without one compromising the scope of the other. After this song I did not pick up the ball and run, but rather I continued to challenge myself, experiment and investigate, more from the abstract angle than the pop angle, until March 2011, at which point I’d figured out the things which made it possible for me to consistently make precisely the music I wanted to make, in which I was not restraining any part of my nature, allowing me to begin the recording ofPBX. I might mention that Walls And Doors was also the first time my electronic instruments had begun to convey the visceral energy that one associates with people beating the fuck out of their instruments, in the context of a pop song.

Unlike Frusciante's latest EP Letur-Lefr the album which features guest spots from RZA and more, PBX is contains no guest features on vocals. That's okay, I for one am just happy John is putting out new shit for us to enjoy. PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone will be released in Japan on September 12th, in North America on September 25th and in the rest of the world on September 24th. Like Letur-LefrPBX Funicular Intaglio Zone will be available on vinyl, CD, cassette and in 32 bit, FLAC and MP3 digital formats.

[Listen] Devine Fits - 'A Thing Called Devine Fits' (Full Album Stream)

Why not spend a portion of your Wednesday listening to Divine Fits, a rock project being dubbed as a "supergroup", a phrase I hate to use but if the shoe fits, maybe it could be a Cinderella story. Bands that come to mind from recent years with the aforementioned title would be Them Crooked Vultures, The Dead Weather, How To Destroy Angels? This too could be great. Could be.

Made up of members from Handsome Furs (Dan Boeckner), along with Spoon frontman Britt Daniel and drummer Sam Brown, the project is turning heads the world over. Today courtesy of NPR you can stream their entire LP which is cleverly titled A Thing Called Devine Fits. I see what they did there. Go and hit play and let us ponder on the worthiness of said the "supergroup" label a little longer while soundtracked by the latest addition to that list; Devine Fits.

A Thing Called Devine Fits is set for release on teh 28th of August via Merge.

[Watch] Poliça - "Dark Star" (Official Video)

The fusion of sounds that is the Minneapolis band Poliça return again with another video following up the video to "Wandering Star" with another brightly coloured number, "Dark Star". A pretty simplistic video that uses the light from the bulbs well to cast silhouettes of the band performing. There's something about this band that allows me to disconnect from the reality I'm in at that given moment. It may be short lived but hey, I'm away from it for a few minutes at the time and on a Wednesday it's just what the Doctor ordered. If you like that kind of feeling go grab their album, Give You The Ghost, over here.
