[Listen] The Presets - "Ghosts"

The Presets' latest sample from their forthcoming third LP Pacifica is a synth-doused sea chant called "Ghosts", with booming vocals serving as the crux of the song. For a sea shanty, it's pretty damn good. Stream it below alongside its screen saver-esque background.

Pacifica is out on September 11th via Casablanca Records, and if you've yet to hear the lead single "Youth In Trouble", head here.

[Listen] Wavves - "Hippies Is Punks"

Adult Swim's Singles Program gives us another fantastic track, this time from surf rock band Wavves. Frontman Nathan Williams hinted at a new song last week on Twitter, and "Hippies Is Punks" is the result. The track is a crisp, clean garage rock jam, with lots of fuzzy guitars and catchy vocals. It's a great sense of what we can expect from Wavves' next album, which Williams recently discussed on, you guessed it, Twitter:

Been working on these songs for so long…kinda nervous. Throughout the whole creative process there was no label involvement. John, Stephen and I payed for the record ourselves. We had no time limit, no person telling us we needed a single. Once we were done we took it around and let labels listen to and bid on a finished product. 100% ours, no changes. The music business is so much different now and that shouldn’t have to be a bad thing."

The as-of-yet-untitled LP is expected to drop in early 2013. Stream and download "Hippies Is Punks" below.

[Watch] Oberhofer - "Crusin FDR" (Official Video)

We haven't heard much from indie outfit Oberhofer this year other than their amazing cover of Kanye West's "Runaway", but now they have a new video for their song "Crusin FDR". The video is all kinds of awesome, with some cool green-screen and artifacting effects giving it a unique visual style. On top of that, we've got the band driving around in a sweet ride, zombie attacks, rainbow puke, and black holes. What more could you want? Check it out above.

[Watch] Work Drugs - "The Art of Progress" (Official Video)

Once you start listening to Work Drugs' infectious brand of lo-fi beach pop, it's incredibly difficult to stop. The Philadelphia band's sophomore LP Absolute Bearing is a great collection of catchy, addictive tunes, among which is "The Art of Progress". Apparently written in 1994, the song is "a response to U.S. President Bill Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin signing the Kremlin accords, which stopped the preprogrammed aiming of nuclear missiles toward each country’s targets, and also provided for the dismantling of the nuclear arsenal in Ukraine". While the lyrics may have a political agenda, the visuals for the song is the complete opposite of that. Using footage from MTV's famous spring break specials from the '90s, the video sees a bunch of 20-somethings dancing on a sun-soaked beach. Watch it above.

Work Drugs' sophomore album Absolute Bearing is out now, and is available to buy at their Bandcamp page.

[Listen] My Morning Jacket - "Outta My System" (Washed Out Remix)

My Morning Jacket will be releasing a new EP tomorrow, titled Outta My System – Remixez Y Friendz, which sees them bringing along some friends to remix their song "Outta My System", which was originally part of their 2011 LP Circuital. Included in that "friends" category are folks such as Dave Sitek and Washed Out, who have lent their respective abilities to tweaking and tinkering with MMJ's track. The band has been kind enough to share Washed Out's remix of the song, which sees the chillwave aficionado adding delicate layers of reverb and synthpoppy goodness. Stream it below.

[Watch] Kendrick Lamar - "Swimming Pools (Drank)" (Official Video)

Kendrick Lamar is easily one of the most talented faces in hip-hop, with his Section.80 mixtape being one of the best hip-hop releases in years. While he may be talented lyrically and production-wise, his music videos never quite match up to that high level of quality. The same goes for the video for "Swimming Pools (Drank)", which is pretty damn bland and boring. I guess if you want to see Kendrick falling through the darkness like the Persian messengers in 300, then the video does its job. Watch the replay above.

Kendrick Lamar's debut LP good kid, m.A.A.d city is out on October 2nd via Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records.
