[Outside Lands 2012] A Photo Journal
I recently had the opportunity to fly down to San Francisco with my best friend Samuel Boardman Parker to attend the city’s burgeoning Outside Lands Music Festival. Who could pass up a chance to see Stevie Wonder, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Beck, Sigur Rós, Justice, Jack White, Passion Pit, Bloc Party, and so many more amazing and talented musicians? With Sam taking photos and myself interviewing artists, we flew down the West Coast to embrace all the experiences the festival had to offer. While the photo journal below includes only a fraction of the places we went, the people we met, and the bands we stared in awe at, it displays in brief the fucking craziness that was San Francisco and Outside Lands Music Festival.
[Listen] Ultraísta - "Bad Insect"
Nigel Godrich's latest project Ultraísta has unveiled a new track from their forthcoming self-titled debut called "Bad Insect". If have been following along and have already heard "Smalltalk" and "Static Light", then you know that "Bad Insect" nestles in perfectly alongside them with its lush lightly layered beats with vocals provided by Laura Bettinson. I am admittedly a little late getting acquainted with this project but that hasn't crippled my newfound anticipation to hear more from this project. The debut album is slated for an October 2nd release on Temporary Residence.
Ultraísta is Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker, and Laura Bettinson. Be sure to add them on Facebook, Twitter, and Soundcloud.
[SKOA Premiere] Icky Blossoms - "Perfect Vision" (Them Jeans Remix)
On the heels of the announcement that Omaha trio Icky Blossoms will be heading out on tour with The Faint, Reptar and Rubblebucket the band has released a free download this spirited rework of their latest single, "Perfect Vision" courtesy of producer outfit Them Jeans. I really like that this remix doesn't take too much away from the original itself. It just kind of feels like the song got up this morning and opted for coffee instead of tea. A very subtle transformation that fits perfectly as summer is winding down.
Icky Blossoms hit the road starting on September 14th. Make sure you grab their debut self-titled album out on Saddle Creek if you haven't already.

[News] Download LCD Soundsystem's 'Shut Up and Play the Hits' Documentary
A month after LCD Soundsystem's concert film Shut Up and Play the Hits debuted for a one-night-only theatre screening, the documentary is now available to purchase digitally on iTunes. An important thing to note, though, the iTunes purchase will only nab you the documentary itself, while the three-disc physical release will include the documentary, the full concert and a handful of extras. The physical release will be out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 9th.
Check out the trailer for the documentary below.
