[Listen] Arctic Monkeys debut new song "Mad Sounds" Live in Sweden

We got to hear a brand new track from Arctic Monkeys just last month in the shape of "Do I Wanna Know?". While that song seemed to be a little dark and reminiscent of new Queens of the Stone Age, they've now premiered a softer track titled "Mad Sounds" live in Sweden. Performed during their set at Hultsfreds Festival, you can check out the live recording below that appeared online via the Arctic Monkeys US forums not too long ago. There's a nice little video too. Organ filled, and a definite nice mid-set break before the band performed "R U Mine?", it feels like a gentle breeze on a summers eve as it washes over you. Oh la la la.

Update: The band also played the track during the Danish NorthSide festival yesterday (Sunday 16th June). More footage can be seen below.

[Watch] Chvrches - "Gun" (Official Video)

So it turns out we've never posted any Chvrvhes here on SKOA?! What's that all about?! (Adrian has given them a bit of love via Sasquatch! posts) Well I'm changing that now with a post just for them in the shape of the great looking video for their highly infectious track, "Gun". Check it out above and look out for more gems of goodness from the Scottish band in the coming months. The band have just announced their full-length debut titled, The Bones of What You Believe. It will be released on the 23rd of September in the U.K. via Virgin/Goodbye Records, and the 24th in North America via Glassnote.

[Watch] Queens of the Stone Age in Radio One's Live Lounge

All this week in the UK, Radio One have been having what they call "Rock Week". This means that in the day they've had numerous more rock orientated artists sitting in the live lounge performing some tracks. It's cool, I guess, introducing some people sat at work to bands they may not have heard of before. They also put on bands doing full sets each night.

The one that made me prick up my ears up in the week though was a visit from Josh Homme and Queens of the Stone Age. They dropped by to perform an acoustic rendition of "My God Is The Sun" along with a cover of Robin Thicke's Pharrell and T.I featuring "Blurred Lines". Watch both of those right now here. If you want the full electric set from the evening you can head over here.

...Like Clockwork is out now.

[News] Queens of the Stone Age Announce UK Tour

I was starting to get a little nervous that I'd miss out on all the fun with Queens of the Stone Age having not headed to Download Festival this weekend. Turns out, I was wrong to worry as the band have just announced a handful of UK tour dates set for November this year. The band will bring their new album, ...Like Clockwork, and their impressive back-catalogue, of course, to The Hydro in Glasgow, Manchester's Evening News Arena, Birmingham's NIA and Wembley Arena, London. Tickets are on general sale next Friday, June 21st. These are some pretty big venues. Last time I saw them play the UK they were playing Manchester Academy which fits around 2000 people in it. Manchester's Evening News Arena on the other hand is nearly 10 times bigger than that at 20k!

[Sasquatch! Interview] Bloc Party's Kele Okereke Chats About the Band's Latest LP 'Four', Their Upcoming EP and Future Projects

Keeping the Sasquatch! festivities going is Kele Okereke of Bloc Party. During my time at The Gorge, I sat down with Kele before the band's great set on day two of the festival. The sun was shining through the sliding glass door of the backstage trailer we sat in. The couch had a simple design and was surprisingly comfortable. At ease with this setting, we talked. It was a brief chat, only fifteen minutes, but during that time we delved into Bloc Party's latest LP Four. I'm interested in how the band is now, after four albums and over a decade together. Beyond that, we discussed the future: the band plans to release a new EP this summer and are also working on their next full-length album. Check out that and more below.

[Listen] Unknown Mortal Orchestra Cover Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay"

Unknown Mortal Orchestra has such a great sound. Their guitar, bass and drums belt out with a warm, fuzzy sheen, and it translates oh so well to Otis Redding's famous song "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay." It's got such a mellow texture to it, coupled with a subtle sense of desperation. Damn, this cover is good. Stream the recording of UMO performing the cover live in studio for BBC Radio 6.
